Pride Month: How Riot are Celebrating and Why This Is Important

Pride is here again! And as people around the world celebrate their identities, Riot games are focussing on two key champions in an inspiring show of support for the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Plus and every other identity).

Riot is releasing free content for many of their games including League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and Wild Rift to showcase the month and generate awareness around this group of people.

The content released adds cosmetic changes to the game featuring flags of many different identities that can be used to proudly show the summoner's recognition.

What content is available?

New icons for League of Legends include a multitude of penguins adorning flags which each represent sections of the LGBTQIA+ community. From Cotton Candy Pengu to Sherbert Pengu, there is a vast range of icons for players to choose from.

These are available for only 1 blue essence from the League of Legends store which means they are easily accessible after completing easily obtainable missions. Selecting a pride icon will also leave a rainbow trail behind your champions when fighting in the rift.

There is also a Graves and Twisted Fate emote available where after fan speculation, it has proven to be true that the couple are in a relationship as they are posed in a romantic cuddle.

For the Legends of Runeterra squad, a new card back, guardian, emote and icon are being released.

Teamfight Tactics players will be thrilled to see the release of Pride focussed Booms which can be equipped to show support for the community.

Wild Rift will receive a new emote, icon and a temporary trail as well to mirror the assets implemented in League of Legends.

When is this available?

This content is available to use from today June 1 as most of the content will be appearing in the store then.

A trailer for the new content has been released on Riot's youtube which also features a well-known couple from Riot's Arcane series.

As Riot celebrates pride by including these cosmetic features, celebrate with them by purchasing these extras and supporting these communities!
