The Elder Scrolls Online Blackwood DLC is almost here, with the new expansion set to release next month.

Here is everything we know so far about The Elder Scrolls Online Blackwood.

LATEST - Out Now on PC

For those lucky enough to play on PC, you can already get stuck into the story of Blackwood. The official release time was 12 pm EST / 5 pm BST but it appears to have launched early for those who just can't wait.

Console players will have to wait two weeks to play it for themselves on June 15th. Dropping right in the middle of E3 season, there is lots to look forward to.

New Trailer Revealed

Ahead of the release of The Elder Scrolls Online Blackwood, a new trailer has been revealed given players a look at what to expect.

The Announcement

Announced back in January with a fittingly creepy trailer, we received plenty of little details about the horrifying cult of Mehrunes Dagon.

This started with the Flames of Ambition pack in February that brought with it a handful of dungeons at a cheaper price than a chapter DLC.

The announcement trailer showed some horrifying creatures alongside a group of adventures using destruction spells and brute force to make their way out. Their efforts were only met by the mighty axe of Mehrunes Dagon.

What Is The Elders Scrolls Online: Blackwood DLC?

This chapter DLC takes the adventurer through the Blackwood region over 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion(which is now available to play on Xbox Game Pass).

It will be more story-driven than the previous DLC and it comes with plenty of little updates to the base experience.

The Daedric cult that lies at the centre of the story allows it to indulge in a different kind of narrative. The use of the Daedric prince allows the story and gameplay to actively mess with the player in new ways.

Spooky

With the Daedra comes uncertainty and madness, something the trailers seem to indulge in. This trailer mocks the player, and mortals as a whole, through the voice of a daedric monster. They take the role of some form of cultish puppet master, allowing the player to adventure as it amuses them. Very spooky.

New Additions

With the harsh reality of the Daedra comes the soft power of allies. You don't have to take this DLC alone as the companion system allows you to pick a character, fight with them, and tell their story. They will aid you in your quests and grow alongside you.

Rockgrove is a new 12-player trial that comes with the Blackwood Update. It has you fight alongside friends to secure a town and defend from an invading tribe. If you lose, they can call on Mehrune Dagon's army to destroy you. You cannot lose.

As well as this, the infamous Oblivion Portal is back and with it comes new rewards and even tougher enemies. They pop up throughout the land where you have to deal with them before they grow too powerful.

Confirmed Release Date

Like Flames of Ambition, the release date for Blackwood is staggered this time around. Possibly to allow servers to be tested and to get any updates out quickly, PC, Mac and Stadia users can get in on the DLC on June 1. Xbox and PlayStation players will have to wait two whole weeks until the June 15th to jump in.

Though it is unfortunate being two weeks behind your buddies, playing it later allows you to make a more informed decision and allows you to understand what you've got ahead of you. Sort of the like what this article does.
