Once you have reached skill level eight on your chosen instrument you can now unlock the ability to write a song and potentially earn money.
How to write the music
Once you have reached level eight you now have the ability to select 'write a song' with that instrument.
This will be time-consuming similarly to writing a novel, but the payoff is definitely worth it.

Once the Sim has finished writing the song it will appear in your inventory as musical sheets.
