NBA 2K19: 2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers Player Ratings and Roster

One of the great classic teams players can use is the strong, 3-peat Lakers squad from the early 2000s.

This Los Angeles Lakers squad was one of the many great teams to roll through Hollywood. With two hall-of-famers and a good supporting staff, this year dominated during the middle of a 3-peat stretch and drama surrounding their two stars. Their season resulted in a title after a 56-26 regular season and a 4-1 Finals victory over the 76ers.

Top Five

Derek Fisher, PG (OVR 77)

Age: 26

Height: 6’1”

Traits: Playmaker

Best Stats: Ball Handling, Speed, Acceleration

Fisher is historically known for hitting big shots when it matters most. On this squad, he actually didn’t put in much work during the season. He only got to play in 20 regular season games with averages of 11.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. He raised that level in all 16 playoff games with averages of 13.4 points per game.

Kobe Bryant, SG (OVR 95)

Age: 22

Height: 6’6”

Traits: All-Around Superstar

Best Attributes: Layups, Stamina, Mid-Range

Kobe is easily one of the greatest players of all time and you get to experience that on this classic team. While only playing in 68 regular season games, the Black Mamba averaged 28.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5 assists per game. During their title run, he averaged 29.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists in quite a playoff showing.

Rick Fox, SF (OVR 79)

Age: 31

Height: 6’7”

Traits: Lockdown Defender

Best Stats: Lateral Quickness, 3Pt, Stamina

Rick Fox was a quality rotation player during this season and this particular Lakers dynasty period. While logging 27.9 minutes per game, Fox averaged 9.6 points, 4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

Horace Grant, PF (OVR 80)

Age: 35

Height: 6’10”

Traits: Elite Defender

Best Stats: Strength, Post Offense, Rebounding

Playing a post position next to Shaquille O’Neal might have been a frustrating role to fill. You would not be able to fill the lane as often and would often be overshadowed. That being said, Grant found a way to be successful to the tune of 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Shaquille O’Neal, C (OVR 97)

Age: 29

Height: 7’1”

Traits: Two-Way Star

Best Stats: Strength, Rebounding, Blocks

Easily one of the most dominant players of all time, Shaq controlled everything that happened during the course of a game due to his physical presence alone. With regular season averages of 28.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.76 blocks per game, it was easy to see how he finished on the All-NBA first team this season. In the playoffs, Shaq took his game to another level with averages of 30.4 points, 15.4 rebounds and 2.38 blocks per game.
