As you will know, signing players on Contract Expiry means dodging high transfer fees and can bring some stellar stars to your side.

What is a Contract Expiry signing?

A contract expiry signing is securing a player on a free transfer as the contract with their current club enters its final six months.

You sign the player on what is known as a pre-contract agreement, for the player to join your club on a free transfer when their current contract expires.

You can only sign players this way who have less than six months remaining on their contract and are over the age of 23.

Ruben Dias (OVR 88 - POT 91)

Manchester City's dominant defender is leaked to get an upgrade in FIFA 23, to 88 OVR.

We may see Ruben Dias' potential increase too, and by the time you are able to sign him for free, he will be at his peak - although he will be over 30 years old, and will decline soon after that.

Rodri (OVR 87 - POT 89)

You could do a City double sweep (or even the triple - we'll get to that later), with Rodri up for grabs in the same season as his teammate.

As with Dias, he will be over 30 when his contract runs out, so make use of him while you can.

Luis Diaz (OVR 84 - POT 87)

Liverpool's Luis Diaz has looked deadly since joining the club and you could bring his direct, attacking style to your side too.

Another who will be 30, you need to get him involved whilst he still has his pace.

Federico Valverde (OVR 84 - POT 89)

There aren't many players around like Federico Valverde, so if you get a chance to sign the Real Madrid man it's well worth taking.

Very pacey for a CM, he can operate between both boxes exceptionally well and will be a favourite for many Career Mode managers.

Ferran Torres (OVR 82 - POT 89)

If you're after a man that can play across the whole forward line, then look no further than Barcelona's Ferran Torres.

The Spaniard will be in his prime and can use his agility and skill on the ball to get past defenders and turn provider or bag a goal himself.

Florian Wirtz (OVR 82 - POT 90)

Florian Wirtz will only be in his mid-twenties five seasons down the line, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy having him on your team.

With great close control and pinpoint passing, the nimble German will be able to unlock any defence.

Joe Gomez (OVR 81 - POT 86)

A fan favourite, Joe Gomez will have reached his peak potential when you can grab him for free.

Although it won't be 90+ (or even that close to the 90s, really) he has all the attributes - namely pace and strength - that we love a CB to possess in FIFA.

Ansu Fati (OVR 79 - POT 90)

A young player with an incredibly bright future, Ansu Fati might not even have fulfilled his full potential after five more seasons!

He is a rapid winger with an eye for goal and could be utilised centrally to deadly effect.

Eduardo Camavinga (OVR 79 - POT 89)

Eduardo Camavinga is a near-perfect all-rounder in the centre of midfield.

Able to break down play equally well as he can create chances, his physical attributes elevate him to that next level.

Julian Alvarez (OVR 78 - POT 86)

Another man who has joined the Premier League with a bang, Julian Alvarez has already shown a great eye for goal.

We expect his potential to be boosted in FIFA 23 too, possibly getting to 90 OVR!
