It looks like the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions of WWE 2K25 will lack key content. During the reveal trailer that premiered on January 27's episode of Raw on Netflix, fans caught a glimpse of a brand-new mode exclusive to Xbox Series and PS5.

Towards the end of the trailer, The Island mode was teased. Leaks before the reveal stated that WWE 2K25 would be getting a mode similar to NBA 2K's The City. It's safe to say The Island is the equivalent of that, even if it isn't fully confirmed.

As the mode was being shown, eagle-eyed fans noticed the small footnote at the bottom that reads: "The Island is only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X."

Not everyone is invited to The Island

The news has been received rather positively. Initially, fans were skeptical about the launch of 2K25 on last-gen hardware, as it suggested that the creators might be limited in developing a proper evolution of the series.

Having The Island exclusive to current-gen consoles means that the mode could be worth playing, with enough content to justify its absence from hardware over 10 years old.

On the other hand, a subset of the fanbase is not as thrilled about The Island. They're warning WWE 2K fans that if it plays anything like NBA 2K's The City, they're in for a microtransaction-riddled, uninspired, semi-open world designed to make them spend even more money than what they already paid for after purchasing any of the three editions.

As for why the PC version will be missing the feature, it's hard to say at this moment. It could very well have to do with a potential modding situation, with 2K wary of users getting their hands on assets available only on The Island.

WWE 2K25 will be released on March 14 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam). There will be an early access period starting on March 7 for those that purchase the Deadman or Bloodline editions.
