FIFA 17 Career Mode: Best Bargain Wingers

You can never have too many dangerous wingers on FIFA 17, so RealSport looks at the biggest coups to bring in on Career Mode.

Wingers are amongst the most favourite players to use on FIFA 17. Full of pace, the ability to beat players and look to strike at goal, there is a reason why the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann and Neymar all play out wide. Now you probably won’t be able to afford any of that lot in Career Mode, so here are some much cheaper alternatives, courtesy of RealSport.

  • The best Fifa 18 wonderkid strikers can be found here

Jeisson Vargas (OVR 70 – POT 86)

His starting overall is nothing special, but with that potential, you have to take a chance on Estudiantes left winger Jeisson Vargas. The 18-year-old Chilean can be signed for just £6 million, offering 84 balance, 82 sprint speed and 81 agility. Vargas only joined Estudiantes in the summer, so you will have to wait until January to sign him, but with starting wages of just £720 per week, it will definitely be worth it.

Paul-Georges Ntep (OVR 80 – POT 85)

Stade Rennais man Paul-Georges Ntep will attract a lot of attention on Career Mode, due to his electric pace and £15 million transfer price. The French left midfielder or winger has 91 acceleration, 91 sprint speed and 86 agility, making him one of the most dangerous players in Ligue 1. Born in Cameroon, 23-year-old Ntep made his debut for France last year, and a move to a bigger club could lead to more international recognition. His wages of £11,000 make Ntep a must buy for almost any top-flight side.

Federico Cartabia (OVR 76 – POT 83)

If you are really strapped for cash, need someone to play regularly in the first team and go on and become the star man, Valencia’s Federico Cartabia fits the bill. The Argentine right, left or attacking midfielder has been loaned out for the past two seasons, but has been kept on board for this campaign. He would bring 88 balance, 86 acceleration, 84 agility to your side for a price of just £7.5 million. The 23-year-old’s wages of £36,000 aren’t the cheapest, but he will be part of your plans for the next decade.

Rachid Ghezzal (OVR 77 – POT 82)

Algeria already have Riyad Mahrez in their side, and he is now joined by Lyon right or left winger Rachid Ghezzal. The 24-year-old has been at Lyon since 2012, racking up over 80 appearances, and having a hand in 23 goals and assists). He has 92 dribbling, 82 ball control and 80 curve as well as the ‘flair’ trait, at a price of £8.5 million. His wages of £43,000 give you a tough decision to make, so perhaps scouting the market first to see if there are any more profound options.

Rodrigo De Paul (OVR 75 – POT 83)

With a price of just £7 million, Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul will undoubtedly come under your consideration, with a steady starting overall and high potential. The Argentine’s wages of £11,000 make him all the more tempting, along with his 82-rated curve, 81 dribbling and 80 shot power as well as his ‘finesse shot’ and ‘long shot taker’ traits. The 22-year-old has been a regular since moving to Udinese in the summer from Valencia, and if he continues his run in the side, he could be picked up by other clubs around Europe.

Jesus Navas (OVR 80 – POT 80)

A name you will recognise, in the form of Manchester City right midfielder Jesus Navas, who looks sure to leave The Etihad at the end of the season. Pep Guardiola has other wingers Raheem Sterling, Nolito and Leroy Sane to choose from, with Gabriel Jesus joining in January. Navas is renowned for his pace, and he has 89 acceleration, 88 sprint speed and 87 agility. The 30-year-old Spaniard has a price of just £7 million with £43,000 wages.

Keisuke Honda (OVR 80 – POT 80)

Keisuke Honda was perhaps the best Asian player in the world when he moved to AC Milan two years ago, but his spell in Italy hasn’t been as successful as he’d hoped. He is constantly in and out of the team, and 10 goals in 84 appearances isn’t good enough for a player of his quality. The 30-year-old right winger and attacking midfielder has one more move to save his career, and with a price of just £7 million, why not give him that opportunity? His wages of £50,000 could dissuade you, but you could haggle him down and it may just be worth it for a player with 85 ball control, 85 curve and 84 free-kick accuracy.

Martin Benitez (OVR 72 – POT 81)

Another promising Argentinean is Independiente left or right winger Martin Benitez. The 22-year-old has clocked up nearly 80 appearances in four years, but a move to Europe could be on the horizon. He has 81 dribbling, 81 acceleration and 76 sprint speed on this year’s FIFA, for a price of just £5 million. His overall and potential are quite middle of the range, but with wages of just £2,000 per week, there won’t be much pressure on him to perform.

Lee Gwang Hyeok (OVR 67 – POT 81)

Any lower league sides looking for an affordable player with high potential should look no further than South Korean Lee Gwang Hyeok. The Pohang Steelers right or left winger will set you back just the £3million and £6,000 wages, an absolute bargain for a player who will grow 14 overall points. Add that his 93 sprint speed, 92 acceleration and 90 balance, and the 20-year-old is a player who will be able to do damage straight away.

Alexandr Golovin (OVR 71 – POT 81)

CSKA Moscow’s Alexandr Golovin looks to be one to fill a gap in the squad, with his decent potential making him a good option to have. The 20-year-old left or attacking midfielder has 77 acceleration, 75 sprint speed and 74 ball control for just £3.5 million. The Russian has a high defensive work rate, making him a good player to use against more threatening teams or to bring on to close out a result. His wages of £14,000 are affordable enough to bring him on board.
