First look at NBA 2K22 as cover and release date are leaked via Twitter

The excitement is building for the upcoming release of NBA 2K22.

We may have just seen the cover for the first time, as a Twitter user has leaked the cover and release date for the new game!

NBA 2K22 Cover & Release Date Leaked

@2KIntel on Twitter has leaked the NBA 2K22 cover!

@2KIntel has also stated that the NBA 2K22 release date will be on Friday, September 10, but we can't know for sure if that date is correct.

If the leak is true, we also have confirmation that the game will arrive on Next-Gen consoles, including the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.

The fan response seems very positive so far, with many stating that they love the way the cover looks.

What to Expect from NBA 2K22

NBA 2K21 Next Gen was rebuilt from the ground up with a brand new collision system, the Impact Engine, driving motion and contact on the court.

NBA 2K21 badges were also entirely reworked, with plenty getting cut entirely, and new badges to take their places.

Along with this NBA 2K21 next-gen introduced the massive innovation of The City, MyPLAYER builds, MyNBA, and plenty more.

With all of these innovations, it's hard to predict what's to come in NBA 2K22 - and what features will be cut or reworked before the franchise's next big drop.

Some areas that will no doubt see improvement and some level of innovation are MyCAREER, online gameplay in The Park and The Rec, and The City.

NBA 2K22 Trailer

The first major NBA 2K22 trailer we expect to see is the official reveal trailer.

Last year, the official trailer landed on Thursday, June 11, 2020, so we can likely expect the official reveal trailer for NBA 2K22 to be released close to Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Other trailers should follow, such as last year when we saw trailers for the cover athlete and gameplay in the weeks after the official reveal trailer.

We could also see a unique gameplay trailer for NBA 2K22 this year. NBA 2K21 released its gameplay trailer almost 2 months after the reveal trailer.

Like last year, there should be a gameplay trailer for both current and next gen platforms.

We may also get to look ahead at other modes with trailers for MyPLAYER or MyTeam, but only time will tell.
