It's that time of year again, when the Madden hype truly starts up. EA Sports has dropped the first trailer for Madden 24 and it has confirmed a few details for players to take note of.

This includes the Madden 24 cover star and also pre-order details, but perhaps best of all it has included a release date for the new game!

Madden 24 cover star

As expected, EA Sports has gone with a quarterback on the cover once again, but it's not Jalen Hurts. Instead, it will be Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen. He was certainly on the shortlist of candidates for the cover spot, and is someone that deserves a moment to shine though a high-turnover 2022 season will lead some to detract from his position.

Of course, there are plenty of disappointed Philadelphia fans who won't be seeing their own QB on the front, but maybe Hurts will be there next year.

Release date

There is now an official Madden 24 release date! Players can start their new NFL journey on 18 August, which is right in line with the usual release window of Madden.

Of course, you can get three days early access to play on 15 August, but it will cost you more...

Editions & pre-order bonuses

If you are keen to get as much as possible from Madden 24 then the Deluxe Edition is for you.

This edition will come with the following additions:

  • Base Game
  • Dual Entitlement
  • Josh Allen Elite Player Item
  • Choice of 2 Strategy Items (1 Offense & 1 Defense)
  • MFL Marble Bills Gear
  • 3 Days Early Access
  • 4,600 Madden Points

Those who pre-order before 22 July will get an AKA Player to use in Ultimate Team.

New features

Madden 24 will have a few new features that weren't included in the trailer. These include SAPIEN Technology which, in next-gen editions, will give more body definition and variation to athlete physiques while resulting in more realistic player movement.

Likewise, a new iteration of FieldSENSE is coming to next-gen editions to give players greater control of the game.

AI enhancements should make better reactions to the play designs while their ability to push piles and attack for extra yards or bigger stops is improved.
