What a month it has been. The Christmas schedule in the Premier League does receive criticism, but from a fan's point of view it is superb. The games flowed thick and fast during December, and although the battle at the top of the table is not too exciting, with Manchester City well ahead of the rest of pack, the entertainment has come from the fight against relegation.
With so many fixtures in December, there was plenty of opportunity for players to make their mark, so who could claim the Premier League Player of the Month Award? The winner will receive a special rare card in FIFA Ultimate Team, which can be yours for achieving a Squad Building Challenge.
Harry Kane (OVR 86 – POTM 90)
With two hat tricks in December, Harry Kane is most people’s favourite to land a second Player of the Month award of the season. The Tottenham striker bagged trebles against both Burnley and Southampton, adding to his pair at home to Stoke earlier in the month. England fans now pray that the Premier League’s top scorer can bring his form to the World Cup in the summer.
With Kane receiving an 89 rating for being September’s Player of the Month, this time around he is likely to achieve a 90 score. The 24-year-old’s normal 86 overall will cost you around 35,000 Ultimate Team coins on both PS4 and Xbox One. His 87 in form card is priced at 137,000 coin on PS4 and 165,000 on Xbox One, and Kane’s 88 ‘Team of the Group Stage’ rating will set you back 149,000 on PS4 and 170,000 on Xbox One. Lastly, his second Team of the Week card, rated at 89, will cost 175,000 FUT coins on PS4 and 189,000 on Xbox One.
Mohamed Salah (OVR 83 – POTM 89)
The race for the Premier League golden boot looks to be between two players. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is one behind Harry Kane with 17 goals for the season so far, and the right winger added five to that score during December. The Egyptian scored against Everton, Bournemouth, Arsenal and a double against Leicester as Liverpool went the month unbeaten and into the Champions League places.
Salah’s host of rare cards means another Player of the Month prize would see his 83 overall jump up to 89. His normal card costs just 3,700 coins on PS4 and 4,000 on Xbox One, but you will need a hefty 146,000 on PS4 and 159,000 on Xbox One for his 85 rated Hero card. His 86 in form striker card is priced at 262,000 coins on PS4 and 274,000 on Xbox One, and his 86 Ones To Watch rating will cost 415,000 on PS4 and 434,000 on Xbox One.
Jesse Lingard (OVR 78 – POTM 85)
One of the surprises of the 2017/18 Premier League season has been Jesse Lingard. With over £160 million of talent joining Manchester United in the summer, few thought that Lingard would be given much opportunity under Jose Mourinho during the campaign. However, the tenacious Lingard fits Mourinho’s style, with the versatile midfielder popping up with five goals and an assist during December.
If Lingard is rewarded with the Player of the Month card, his 78 rating will rocket, and we predict an 85 score for the England international. The right midfielder currently only costs around 1,000 coins on both consoles in Ultimate Team, but his recent form was shown in Ultimate Team over the festive period with an 82 rated attacking midfield card available in a ‘Futmas’ Squad Building Challenge.
Raheem Sterling (OVR 82 – POTM 87)
Raheem Sterling has slowly been getting back to his best under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and it looks like the right winger is in the best form of his career so far. The 23-year-old scored four times in December, including a pair against Tottenham, and picked up two assists. The question is now whether he can take his club form with City to the international scene with England.
Former Liverpool man Sterling should improve by five to 87 if he were to be the POTM. His normal 82 card costs around 2,000 coins on both consoles in Ultimate Team, but he also has picked up two in form cards this season. The 84 rated Week 5 TOTW card will cost just under 95,000 coins on both consoles, and his 86 card is priced at 280,000 on PS4 and 309,000 on Xbox One.
Marko Arnautovic (OVR 82 – POTM 85)
During the first few months of the season, West Ham fans were wondering where their £20 million record signing had been, but the Austrian has found his form under new manager David Moyes. After scoring his first goal for his new club against Chelsea in on December 9th, the left midfielder went on to score a further four in the month, and if he maintains this form the Hammers can slowly climb out of the relegation scrap.
The 82 rated Arnautovic will receive a boost of at least three to 85 if he is named the PL Player of the Month, and you can get that normal card for around 1,600 coins on both consoles in Ultimate Team. His 84 in form card is priced at 32,500 coins on PS4 and 45,250 on Xbox One.
