The next major update for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War is right around the corner and now we've had a release date confirmed for Season 4. We're still a bit confused on what all the leaks mean in relation to the Gameplay Trailer, though. Here's the latest...
LATEST - Gameplay Reveal Doesn't Offer Us Much
Johanna Faries, General Manager of Call of Duty, joined Geoff Keighley on the stage of the Summer Game Fest "Kickoff Live!" event to unveil the first official look at Call of Duty's Season 4 update for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
We don't know if the new Operator is Komodo, Deathstalker, or someone completely new and we can't really tell if there's going to be a desert-themed Battle Pass. We're going to hear more about what's coming on June 14th, though.
For now, you can check out the trailer below and see what's on offer for yourself. As you can see, Motorbikes will be coming to Verdansk '84.
Leaked "Theme" - Sandy Dunes
The Summer has started and it looks like Call of Duty Season 4 is going to reflect that. ZestyCODLeaks is a notorious data miner and Call of Duty leaker that draws on Twitter's finest to pull together all the leaks each season.
This time around, they believe that a lot of the Call of Duty Season 4 leaks they've seen point to one thing: A Desert-themed seasonal update.
We're not so sure, looking at the rest of the leaks below, but it's an interesting theme that would somewhat reciprocate COD Mobile's current "Wild West" seasonal theme.
We're expecting to see our first footage from Call of Duty Season 4 at the Summer Game Fest later today, so we'll find out soon enough if this is true.
Leaked Weapons - MG-42 & FAL
There are quite a few new weapons to talk about when it comes to Call of Duty Season 4 leaks. Firstly, let's talk melee weapons...
These are the following melee weapons that have been leaked for Call of Duty's next season:
- Kukuri (Long, Curved Knife from Indian Subcontinent);
- War Mace:
The Black Ops Cold War Baseball Bat is also due to be added to Warzone at the start of Season 4 following balancing updates.
In terms of firearms, there's a lot to look forward to. Here's what's been leaked:
- Chicom CQB (First seen in Black Ops)
- Nail Gun
- Explosive Crossbow (Possibly an ammo variant, not a new weapon)
- Cetme AR (Similar to the FAL)
- Ameli LMG (Similar to the MG-42)
We can imagine that two of the weapons will appear in the Season 4 Battle Pass, with others added in-game via Challenge Unlock and Weapon Blueprint Bundles.
Leaked Operators - Komodo & Quicksand
We spend a lot of our time looking at Call of Duty leaks for Alex Mason and Season 4 isn't anything different. This time around, we've got three words to talk about...
These three words are the internal names and/or nicknames for three upcoming Operators for Call of Duty Season 4. It doesn't really give us a lot, does it?
We can imagine that these three will arrive at the start of the season as new, original characters, and then we'll see a few more familiar faces in the mid-season update. Following the successful introduction of John Rambo and John McClane, we can't imagine we've seen the last crossover collaboration from Activision.
Warzone Events - Trains & Ambushes
We've talked about the new firearms we could see in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, but what about the situations you'll be required to use them?
There is reportedly going to be a new Warzone event akin to the Black Ops Cold War Reveal Event in Season 4 or Season 5. This is going to make use of an Armoured Train, which has been found in the game's files for a while now, and a series of unique gameplay events.
Nakatomi Plaza's Deal Gone Wrong event thrust AI into Warzone in a fun and exciting way and we could see this continue further with the introduction of limited-time ambushes in Verdansk '84. We don't know what's coming just yet, but we can't wait to find out more.
Leaked Features - Motorbikes & Red Doors
Finally, there's another couple of new features being leaked that we should talk about.
The Motorcycle is reportedly being added to Warzone in Season 4 as a new vehicle you can find in and around Verdansk '84. We don't know if this will replace Modern Warfare's ATV, but they essentially do the same job. You're just as exposed on a bike in Black Ops Cold War as you are on an ATV in Warzone at the moment. It wouldn't really make sense to have both of them in-game simultaneously.
In addition to this, the long-rumoured "Red Doors" are due to finally make an appearance in Warzone. This will be a fast travel system somewhat akin to the Subway System we saw during Warzone's Modern Warfare lifetime. These Red Doors feature heavily in the latter stages of Black Ops Cold War's campaign and they even make a minor appearance in the latest Call of Duty teaser cinematic.
