Jehan Daruvala to drive for McLaren at Silverstone
Monday, June 20th
Red Bull junior driver Jehan Daruvala will get his first taste of a Formula 1 car in two weeks' time as he drives in FP1 for McLaren.
Formula 1 introduced new regulations compelling all ten teams to give a minimum of two Free Practice sessions to young drivers this season, but the move to give Daruvala an FP1 was expected to come from AlphaTauri, not McLaren.
Many expected the Woking-based team to hand their FP1 outings to IndyCar stars Pato O'Ward and Colton Herta, both of whom have been linked to Daniel Ricciardo's seat at the team.
Daruvala becomes the second Red Bull junior driver to experience a Free Practice outing this season after Jüri Vips tested for Red Bull in Spain.
