Looking for PlayStation news today? Sony's new State of Play headlines discussions, but there's also an important conversation happening regarding the possible "anti-consumer rhetoric" subconsciously being implemented by Sony. Here's the latest...
PlayStation's New State Of Play
PlayStation is back at it again with another State of Play presentation and this time it's all about Guerrilla's Horizon Forbidden West. We're due to get a 20-minute presentation with at least 14 minutes of pure Horizon Forbidden West gameplay.
You can watch it on PlayStation's Twitch channel, or via PlayStation's YouTube channel. If you want to save yourself a click or two, we've got the YouTube Broadcast of the new State of Play Presentation embedded below!
The unique countdown for the event begins at 09:00 PST / 12:00 EST / 17:00 BST and will last around five hours. This means the full gameplay reveal for Horizon Forbidden West is due to kick off at 09:00 PST / 12:00 EST / 17:00 BST.
There's a little bit of time to wait, but it will be worth it. You can also keep an eye on the PlayStation Twitter account and Guerrilla's social media channels for the latest regarding how you can watch the new State of Play and what's in-store.
Why Does Sony Hate Crossplay?
We're not sure exactly who is to blame, but it looks like Sony's anti-crossplay rhetoric is continuing; Who's the latest victim though? Gearbox's Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3 is reportedly due to receive a new title update that will fully enable crossplay features for the game, something a lot of players have been looking forward to, but there's been a hiccup.
Reportedly, the publisher has been forced to remove crossplay features for PlayStation consoles in the latest update.
GameInformer's Liana Ruppert has raised an interesting point that this could be simply due to Sony's additional fees for enabling cross-play for games on its' platforms. Perhaps 2K felt that the reward of having PlayStation crossplay for Borderlands 3 simply wasn't worth the cost it would demand?
It is important to note the language of the initial revelation from Randy Pitchford. "For certification" stands out and it's important to avoid jumping to any conclusions. A lot of fans are rightfully annoyed, claiming once again that Sony's anti-consumer rhetoric is in play.
However, at the moment, all we know is that Borderlands 3 is going to get crossplay features on PC platforms and Xbox consoles and not PlayStation.
PS5 Stock Update
Finally, if you're still looking to get your hands on a PS5 console... You might have to wait a week or two.
GAME Digital is allegedly going to release some stock at the start of next week, but it looks like the main stock drop is coming in the second week of June. Amazon UK and John Lewis both have some stock releases planned and this will be your better chance of getting a PS5.
As always, keep one eye on StockInformer. There might be a few surprise drops from places over the next couple of weeks and you don't want to miss that.
