Horizon Forbidden West: How to Climb Launch Tower (Reach for the Stars Quest)

Horizon Forbidden West starts off with a journey through an overgrown jungle as Aloy makes her way from the East to the West. As part of the first quest, which is called Reach for the Stars, you'll need to climb a launch tower to untangle the rocket after it got stuck. It isn't very clear how you do so, however, so we've put together a quick guide on how to climb the launch tower in Horizon Forbidden West's early quest.

How to Climb Launch Tower in Horizon Forbidden West

After activating the terminal close by, the brief cutscene will show you an elevator falling on the rig of the launch tower. It's clear that you need to use it to climb up, but it isn't clear exactly how.

You can jump around it as much as you'd like and explore the whole area, where you would have just killed some small machines, but you won't be able to climb it.

Instead, you need to remember that Aloy has a pullcaster you can use in Horizon Forbidden West.

On the right side of the elevator that just fell, you'll notice that a metal beam is holding it up. On that metal beam, there's a small blue section to it, which indicates that it's something you can connect Aloy's pullcaster to.

If you scan it with Aloy's focus, you'll notice that it's something you can interact with.

Aim your bow at it, press triangle to bring out your pullcaster, and fire it at the blue section of the beam. Make sure you hold R2 when you fire it so that Aloy can pull it out.

Then, once you've pulled the beam out, the elevator will drop the final bit and you'll be able to jump up through the hatch inside it. The jump is a little tricky, but persevere because it's the corrct way to go.

If in doubt, press R3 to activate Aloy's focus and display and handholds nearby. Anything you can grab onto will illuminate in yellow. You'll then be able to climb up to the top of the launch tower.
