Star Wars Republic Commando release has just been confirmed by Aspyr Media via the PlayStation Blog.
This 2005 classic FPS has been requested by fans for a long time and after Aspyr Media re-released Star Wars Racer, everyone was hoping this was next.
Now, we finally know what we all hoped was too! Republic Commando is back and we have everything you need to know here.
Star Wars Republic Commando is coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 6th.
It features updated controls, much like Aspyr Media's other ports. You can check out what we mean below:
What worked in 2005 doesn’t translate perfectly to modern hardware. That’s why we updated the controls to feel just right on the DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers (playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility).
Although we don't know any specifics just yet, we can imagine that the modernised controls will make Star Wars Republic Commando a smoother experience than it was in the past.
Squad Up And Survive
Republic Commando is a must-play title for any Star Wars fan and it shines a light on an important narrative arc that hasn't really been touched upon since 2005.
" You may not have played Star Wars Republic Commando, but you might recognize Delta Squad from the TV show Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the episode “Witches From the Mist.” Fun fact: this is the first appearance of a clone commando unit in that series!"
In Republic Commando, you play as RC-1138... Boss. However, as we all know, no clone fights alone.
Delta Squad is as much a weapon as your blaster and the Republic Commando game features a number of player-controlled tactical manoeuvres that make it stand out from the crowd.
This comes just days before a State of Play presentation, too. Could we see more from the game then? Only time will tell.
For now, you'll be able to grab Republic Commando on your PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 6th.
