The unique demands of the Baku street circuit have already made it a favourite amongst F1 fans. Last year’s race was one of the most exciting on the calendar and raised expectations ahead of this weekend’s follow up event. However, an earlier slot in the schedule meant very different conditions from last year and there was much anticipation how this would affect the action in the track.

Qualifying provided plenty of excitement but ultimately a familiar result as Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton took the top two places on the grid, respectively. Daniel Ricciardo added spice to the mix by snatching a spot on the second row alongside Valtteri Bottas, with both no doubt wary of having Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen in their mirrors.

With the three top teams all showing similar pace since arriving in here, it promised to be an intriguing encounter as the lights went out in the Land of Fire.
