Worst things about FC 24 REVEALED!

EA FC 24

EA FC 24

They say time flies when you're having fun, and that's probably why it's already been a month since FC 24 first became available to play.

Despite it not being on the shelves for long, EA has made sure there's been plenty of content to enjoy on FC 24, with TOTW 5 and Trailblazers Team 2 in packs now.

We also have guides on the Trailblazer Interceptor, and Trailblazer Slide Tackler Evolutions, as well as the cheapest solutions to the Trailblazers Xavi Simons, and Flashback Iago Aspas SBCs, so make sure you check those out!

Although there has been lots to like when it comes to FC 24, its launch hasn't come without its problems. From major bugs to annoying gameplay issues and the removal of a popular feature, it's fair to say that the game isn't exactly the polished product many were hoping for, and that's causing quite a stir among the EA FC community.

FC 24s biggest let-downs

Several players have stated their frustration and disappointment about the pressing issues holding FC 24 back, listing a number of its flaws online.

In this article, we'll take a look at some of those problems, based on both our own experiences and the wider FC 24 fanbase.

Trickstar+ glitch

It wouldn't be a surprise if quite a few controllers have been smashed as a result of this one!

The glitch sees a player perform a skill move that results in the ball attaching to the back of their leg or hand, enabling them to have a free run towards - and into - the opposition goal. Despite attempts to tackle and intercept the player, it is virtually impossible to stop them.

It appears it is only impacting competitive online modes, and happening with players who specifically have the Trickster+ PlayStyle.

The good news is that EA has confirmed a fix is being worked on:

"We've added a new issue to the EASFC Tracker that we're investigating. The ball can incorrectly stick to a dribbler's leg as they run in some situations," EA said on social media.

Career Mode Stamina bug

This bug is one we encountered ourselves, but several other Manager Career Mode players have run into the same issue.

The bug impacts a player's fitness level if they are serving a match suspension in European competitions such as the Champions League, for example.

Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes, who was the player impacted in this particular scenario, had picked up his third yellow card of the Champions League campaign, meaning he was suspended for the next match in the competition.

Having returned to Team Management on the Career Mode menu, we noticed Gabriel's fitness was not regenerating, no matter what training plan he was on. It wasn't until Gabriel had served the Champions League suspension that he returned to normal.

It's not currently known whether or not EA is looking into it, so avoiding European suspensions seems like a wise idea in the meantime.

Poor lighting

A slightly less pressing matter now, albeit still a very annoying one! We along with fellow FC 24 players have noticed poor lighting which is affecting gameplay, with parts of the pitch too light and other parts way too dark.

During a Career Mode save, we played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which like most grounds, creates unique shadows on the pitch if sunny weather is enabled.

However, the brightness of the sunny patches was far too strong, whereas the shade was dark enough to make our eyes squint.

It appears lighting-related issues aren't just appearing in a match, but also within cutscenes and menus, as @RaatjeFC pointed out on social media.

"There is also a lighting issue which often shows the hair of managers and players glowing to an extreme level. And there is also a lighting bug when going into certain menus which removes the background."

Match intros

One of the most controversial changes introduced for FC 24 is the new pre-match cutscenes on next-gen versions of the game. Shorter, more immersive cutscenes have replaced the classic tunnel walkouts and team line-up animations, which has largely been met with a negative reaction.

"There are no pre-match lineups and walkouts being shown when starting a match. You also don't hear the Champions League anthem before a match anymore. Well, they are still in the game on old-gen," @RaatjeFC2 said.

@TomAmos0208 also shared his disappointment about the change: "Honestly I miss the player walkouts in the Series X version of the game. Wish we could have it and the cinematic, not just the cinematic."

Although getting a player into a match more quickly is probably behind EA's decision to make this change, it does seem like a strange one when you consider the pre-match cutscenes have always been skippable anyway.

Settings reset

There are a lot of infuriating problems listed here, but this one probably tops them all. Not only is it a pain to deal with, but it's also a reoccurring issue that has troubled past titles.

A number of FC 24 players including ourselves have started up the game to find pretty much all of the settings have reset to default. Controller settings seem to be the main ones impacted, but a few gameplay settings also appear to change back, such as Next Player Switch Indicator.

From our own experience on PS5, we have found that having the controller wired up to the console's USB port as you start the game prevents this from happening, but it remains an issue for a number of other players.

When asked what the worst thing about FC 24 was, @AwsDaPlan said: "Reset of the settings and the camera angle almost every day."

Difficulty imbalance

Just like the setting reset, this problem certainly isn't a stranger to FIFA/EA FC players.

Finding the right difficulty on FC 24 has been a challenge, to say the least. One will be too easy and the other will be too hard, resulting in many players turning to sliders to find the ideal level.

Highlighting the issue, @JeroMarin4 said: "World-class difficulty is kinda easy but legendary is very hard, they should balance it out a little."
