FM 17: La Liga Transfer & Wage Budgets Revealed

Right about now you’re probably choosing which team to manage on Football Manager 2017, so we’ve got you covered and compiled all the information on transfer and wage budgets so you can make an informed decision. We’ve already revealed these budgets for the Premier League, but it’s time to travel abroad into Spain’s La Liga.

The Spanish top flight generates nowhere near as much money from TV deals and the like as the Premier League, no league in the world, in fact, generates as much, so prize money is significantly smaller for where you finish in the league. As such, transfer and wage budgets are much smaller than those of English clubs. It’s worth mentioning, though, that these first season budgets already take into account money spent through the transfer window.

Therefore, you could choose to manage Barcelona or Real Madrid, the clubs with two of the highest budgets in the league (£10.3m and £17.2m respectively), though their squads are practically complete, littered with the best talents in football and where’s the fun in that? Valencia could be an interesting challenge. They’ve been in freefall since the Gary and Phil Neville managerial fiasco and have a transfer budget of £12.9m. However, they only have a spare £40k in wages so you’ll have to split your resources a little better to sign that world class player.

For the hardcore players, taking over Alaves, Deportivo La Coruna, Leganes, Osasuna or Sporting Gijon could be the ultimate challenge, as all teams have absolutely no money to spend on transfers and very little room in their wage budgets. If you decide to take over Real Sociedad, note that their current wage spending is higher than their budget, which will need resolving immediately.
