Wrestling Rumour Roundup: Lucha Underground “unlikely” to return for fourth season
This rumour roundup is compiled with a plethora of rumours from all over the wrestling world, from Lucha Underground to the potential sale of Impact Wrestling.
Lucha Underground Season 4 looking “unlikely”
A few years ago, Lucha Underground debuted their first season, and it became any wrestling fans favourite show on TV. It was dangerous, edgy, high-flying, but most of all – it was different. Filmed more as a TV series rather than a traditional wrestling promotion, the television show portrayed eccentric characters and over-the-top storylines.
However, an upsetting report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (by way of 411mania.com) explains how the show’s owners are not happy about financing the fourth season. We have heard for a long time now that Lucha Underground was not making any money, as they do not charge their fans to attend their tapings – and there were even reports of wrestlers not being paid since fifteen months ago.
If this is true, it will be upsetting for fans of Lucha Underground, but it will provide the independent scene a well-needed influx of hot free agents, before the WWE can reap them and put them in their developmental promotion. What are your thoughts about Lucha Underground being cancelled?
Anthem is ready to sell GFW
Well that lasted long! Last year, the hottest news stories that were circulating the professional wrestling word were all to do with the downfall of TNA, and the ownership. This seemed to be solved when Anthem Entertainment brought out the company, and renamed it “GFW Impact”.
In a turn of (inevitable) events, Anthem are bleeding cash out of all places – according to a new source “SI.com“. Anthem are supposedly ready to sell the company, but the report also details that currently absent Chief Creative Director “Jeff Jarrett” still owns the GFW name. So, if Anthem Entertainment do sell the promotion, they will only be able to sell the “Impact” name. What are your thoughts and solutions to the mess that is GFW Impact’s current ownership?
Alberto El Patrón suing Mexican wrestling promotion
According to PWInsider, Alberto El Patrón (also known as Alberto del Rio) is taking legal action against Mexican promoters “XL Entertainment”, for not paying him and several other wrestlers – inclduing Blue Demon Jnr, Latin Lover, Cibernetico and Tinieblas Jnr. The promoters booked the wrestlers for Mexican Wrestling Promotion “Federacion Universal de Lucha Libre”, back in May this year. Do you think he is justified?
Miz & Maryse kept their pregnancy announcement a secret
The biggest shock coming from RAW this week was that the Miz and his wife, Maryse, will be having a child. However, a bigger shock is that the couple kept their announcement a secret, and only told a few close friends about the big reveal ahead of the show. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (by way of 411mania.com) this was a tactical decision from the couple, as they didn’t want the news to leak before they revealed it personally. RealSport congratulate the pair on the good news!
