But Britain's best hope for Wimbledon victory now comes from elsewhere. 26-year-old British tennis star Cameron Norrie was the ninth seed heading into the 2022 Wimbledon Men's Singles Championship and remains a convincing contender.

Who is Cameron Norrie?

Cameron Norrie will be a familiar name among Tennis fanatics with the World No.12 heading into Wimbledon 2022 off the back of a third-round French Open appearance last month.

Norrie's career peaked with a No.10 World Ranking slot, but the 26-year-old still has room to move upwards and will be hoping to secure a career-best Wimbledon run this summer, having reached the third round of the Men's Singles Championship back in 2021.

The Briton cruised past Spain's Pablo Andujar in the first round of the 2022 Championships in straight sets before edging past Jaume Munar in a tense second-round encounter.

Norrie then went on to beat America's Steve Johnson before knocking out 30th seed Tommy Paul in straight sets on route to the quarter-finals. An epic five-set quarter-final win against David Goffin has set up a blockbuster shootout with World No.1 Novak Djokovic for a place in the Wimbledon 2022 Final.
