The PS5 is almost here, but with pre-orders selling out faster than you can say "It's Time to Play" - only a lucky few are set to be playing the Next Gen console at launch.

So how will you know if your mates on the PlayStation Network are playing PS4 or PS5? Well, we've got the answer.

Iconic

Sony has brought in a simple way to tell which console your friends are playing.

In your Friends list, there is a new icon, showing which console they are playing on.

In the above image, you will see that all the players have a PS4 icon by their name - because the PS5 hasn't launched yet!

Expect a new icon to appear once it releases on Thursday, 12 November.

We can also see the final player having the PS Plus icon next to their name.

Final Countdown

That 12 November release date only applies to North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

The rest of the world must wait a week later until Thursday, 19 November.

The PS5 costs $499.99 / £449.99, with a Digital Edition (without a disc drive) priced at $399.99 / £359.99.
