Madden 17 Ultimate Team: Top 10 Wide Receivers

Madden 17 Ultimate Team has a lot of different Wide Receivers available, but which one to choose? Here is a breakdown of the Top 10 Gold and Elite WR's.

Wide Receiver is, in my opinion, one of the most important positions in Madden Ultimate Team, but which ones to pick?

Here are the top 10 WR’s in the Gold and Elite tiers so you know who to target depending on your team’s level.

Gold

10. Cole Bealsey, Dallas Cowboys – 84 Overall

Need a slot receiver? Here is your guy. This ‘Football Outsiders’ version of Beasley is not a physical beast like some of the other receivers on here but he is just as effective. He has 87 Speed (SPD), 92 Agility (AGI), 88 Acceleration (ACC), 88 Jumping (JMP), 90 Stamina (STA), 87 Catching (CTH), 91 Route Running (RTE), 91 Catch in Traffic (CIT), 85 Spectacular Catch (SPC), 72 Release (RLS), 85 Elusiveness (ELU), 84 Ball Carrier Vision (BCV), 88 Spin Move (SPM), 85 Juke Move (JKM) and 80 Carrying (CAR). He gets so open and is a master across the middle of the field. He is also very shifty after the catch. He’s going to cost around 6900 Coins on Xbox One and around 11,200 Coins of PS4.

9. Dontrelle Inman, San Diego Chargers – 84 Overall

This ‘Team of the Week (TOTW)’ version of Inman is much more of a deep threat than Beasley. He has 88 SPD, 91 AGI, 88 ACC, 86 JMP, 85 STA, 86 CTH, 83 RTE, 86 CIT, 91 SPC, 83 RLS, 77 ELU, 78 BCV, 71 SFA, 80 SPM, 82 JKM and 79 CAR. He is going to cost a lot more though, around 29,000 Coins on Xbox One and 24,800 Coins on PS4.

8. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos – 84 Overall

Thomas is the first all-round and cheapest option so far on this list. It is his ‘Base Set’ version and he has 87 SPD, 90 AGI, 88 ACC, 90 JMP, 84 STA, 82 CTH, 86 RTE, 87 CIT, 89 SPC, 89 RLS, 65 ELU, 84 BCV, 85 SFA, 77 SPM, 81 JKM and 68 CAR. He only costs 2000 Coins on Xbox One and 2900 Coins on PS4.

7. Steve Smith Sr., Baltimore Ravens – 84 Overall

This ‘Base Set’ version of Smith Sr., thanks to his age, is probably best used in the slot now but he is still very good. He has 83 SPD, 86 AGI, 84 CC, 83 JMP, 89 STA, 88 CTH, 87 RTE, 88 CIT, 87 SPC, 81 RLS, 87 ELU, 90 BCV, 88 SFA, 87 SPM, 88 JKM and 69 CAR. What’s more, he only costs 1300 Coins on Xbox One and 1900 Coins on PS4.

6. Allen Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars – 84 Overall

This ‘base Set’ version of the Jags star receiver is certainly a good option for your team. He has 86 SPD, 86 AGI, 88 ACC, 87 JMP, 85 STA, 87 CTH, 86 RTE, 87 CIT, 88 SPC, 85 RLS 74 ELU, 83 BCV, 72 SPM, 80 JKM and 80 CAR. Like Steve Smith Sr. he is cheap, he only costs 1400 Coins on Xbox One and 1500 Coins on PS4.

5. Ed McCaffrey, Denver Broncos – 84 Overall

This ‘Legends: Trainer’ version of McCaffrey is a vertical threat. He has 87 SPD, 84 AGI, 88 ACC, 88 JMP, 88 STA, 90 CTH, 89 RTE, 89 RTE, 89 CIT, 87 SPC, 88 RLS, 56 ELU, 73 BCV, 73 SPM, 77 JKM and 79 CAR. So, though he is not really a threat after catch, his ratings coupled with his height, make him a force to be reckoned with in the redzone and on jump balls. He will cost you 24,000 Coins on Xbox One and 41,200 Coins on PS4 though.

4. DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles – 84 Overall

Want speed? This ‘Thanksgiving’ edition of Jackson has plenty. He has 91 SPD, 93 AGI, 92 ACC, 85 JMP, 92 STA, 88 CTH, 88 RTE, 79 CIT, 89 SPC, 76 RLS, 93 ELU, 93 BCV, 90 SPM, 93 JKM and 68 CAR. He is one of the best all-out deep threats you can get at the Gold tier. That does make him a little more expensive though, costing 6900 Coins on Xbox One and 6000 Coins on PS4.

3. Randy Moss, Minnesota Vikings – 84 Overall

Another ‘Legends: Trainer’ version of a player and another great option for your ultimate team. This version of Randy Moss has 88 SPD, 86 AGI, 89 ACC, 90 JMP, 92 STA, 89 CTH, 87 RTE, 87 CIT, 91 SPC, 84 RLS, 77 ELU, 86 BCV, 72 SFA, 84 SPM, 86 JKM and 67 CAR. This means that he can excel in any way that you use him. He will cost around 18,500 Coins on Xbox One and 19,800 Coins on PS4.

2. Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers – 84 Overall

Another ‘Legends: Trainer’ version of a player and, you guessed it, another great option for your team. This version of the G.O.A.T has 87 SPD, 88 AGI, 89 ACC, 86 AWR, 86 JMP, 91 STA, 90 CTH, 88 RTE, 86 CIT, 86 SPC, 80 RLS, 86 ELU, 84 BCV, 85 SPM, 87 JKM and 71 CAR. He is a great possession receiver but is by no means a slouch in other areas. He will cost 22,800 Coins on Xbox One and 28,000 Coins on PS4 though.

1. DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins – 84 Overall

This ‘TOTW’ version of Parker is my favourite of these Gold receivers. He has 90 SPD, 87 AGI, 91 ACC, 88 JMP, 87 STA, 85 CTH, 82 RTE, 90 CIT, 89 SPC, 84 RLS, 70 ELU, 85 BCV, 78 SPM, 82 JKM and 77 CAR. Add these ratings to his 6’3” frame and you are left with one of the faster Gold receivers with a huge catch radius and a great ability to come down with the ball in traffic. He is a good possession receiver, deep threat or redzone threat and is worth the 4600 Coins on Xbox One or 5300 Coins on PS4.

Elite

10. Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants – 92 Overall

This ‘TOTW’ version of OBJ is virtually unstoppable and is not all that different to the rest of these Elite receivers. He has 90 SPD, 93 AGI, 90 ACC, 86 AWR, 90 JMP, 92 STA, 92 CTH, 92 RTE, 89 CIT, 94 SPC, 89 RLS, 90 ELU, 89 BCV, 84 SPM, 90 JKM and 75 CAR. He is great in every scenario. He is going to cost 450,000 Coins on Xbox One and 564,000 Coins on PS4.

9. DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans – 93 Overall

This ‘Motivators’ version of Hopkins is incredibly good. He has 91 SPD, 90 AGI, 90 ACC, 88 JMP, 91 STA, 92 CTH, 93 RTE, 93 CIT, 94 SPC, 90 RLS, 75 ELU, 85 BCV, 73 SFA, 76 SPM, 84 JKM and 79 CAR. The only real difference between OBJ and this version of Hopkins is Hopkins CIT and the fact that he is 2 inches taller. Those two things are apparently very important as Hopkins will cost 600,000 Coins on Xbox One or 735,000 Coins on PS4.

8. Randy Moss, Minnesota Vikings – 93 Overall

Want a deep threat? Here is your guy. This ‘Legends’ version of Randy Moss has 92 SPD, 90 AGI, 93 ACC, 95 JMP, 94 STA, 93 CTH, 90 RTE, 90 CIT, 96 SPC, 88 RLS, 80 ELU, 89 BCV, 75 SFA, 88 SPM, 89 JKM and 72 CAR. His SPD and receiver related skills are just insane. This version of Moss is such a big play threat and is virtually unstoppable (barring bad throws). That will cost you though, 385,000 Coins on Xbox One and 380,000 Coins on PS4.

7. Ed McCaffrey, Denver Broncos – 93 Overall

This ‘Legends’ version of McCaffery is nearly as good a deep threat as Randy Moss but he has the edge in terms of being a possession receiver. He has 90 SPD, 87 AGI, 91 ACC, 90 JMP, 92 STA, 95 CTH, 95 RTE, 94 CIT, 90 SPC, 92 RLS, 59 ELU, 76 BCV, 75 SPM, 79 JKM and 82 CAR. He’ll win contested catches and make tough catches whilst being hit so will be immense on third downs and in the redzone. Just don’t expect him to make people miss after the catch. He is 295,000 Coins on Xbox One and 315,000 Coins on PS4.

6. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans – 93 Overall

The second Houston Texans receiver on this list and one of the all-time greats from the ‘Legends’ program. He has 89 SPD, 87 AGI, 90 ACC, 87 JMP, 96 STA, 93 CTH, 89 RTE, 94 CIT, 91 SPC, 92 RLS, 84 Trucking (TRK), 76 ELU, 82 BCV, 87 SFA, 79 SPM, 81 JKM and 80 CAR. He is effectively a running back in a 6’3” receiver’s body. That ball carrying ability will cost you 481,000 Coins on Xbox One or 508,000 Coins on PS4.

5. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys – 93 Overall

Another member of the ‘TOTW Program’, this version of Dez Bryant is great. He has 90 SPD, 92 AGI, 90 ACC, 93 JMP, 88 STA, 89 CTH, 88 RTE, 91 CIT, 93 SPC, 86 RLS, 76 TRK, 88 ELU, 85 BCV, 78 SFA, 86 SPM, 88 JKM and 75 CAR. He is going to cost around 479,000 Coins on Xbox One and 515,000 Coins on PS4.

4. Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers – 93 Overall

This ‘Chemistry Master’ version of Antonio Brown is immense. He has 91 SPD, 93 AGI, 91 ACC, 83 JMP, 93 STA, 92 CTH, 94 RTE, 91 CIT, 91 SPC, 90 RLS, 92 ELU, 91 BCV, 72 SFA, 83 SPM, 92 JKM, 76 CAR and 95 Kick Return (KR) just for good measure. He will cost 250,000 Coins on Xbox One or 272,000 Coins on PS4.

3. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons – 94 Overall

This ‘Milestones’ version of Julio Jones is based on the ‘Man of the Month’ version of him, which is a 93 Overall player so I have only included this version. He has 91 SPD, 92 AGI, 90 ACC, 93 JMP, 90 STA, 92 CTH, 89 RTE, 92 CIT, 93 SPC, 91 RLS, 73 TRK, 84 ELU, 88 BCV, 76 SFA, 80 SPM, 79 JKM and 78 CAR. He is going to cost 450,000 Coins on Xbox One or 430,000 Coins on PS4.

2. Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers – 95 Overall

This, the final ‘Legends’ version of the G.O.A.T is tied as the best player overall on MUT 17 currently with good reason. He has 91 SPD, 92 AGI, 93 ACC, 90 JMP, 95 STA, 96 CTH, 95 RTE, 91 CIT, 92 SPC, 85 RLS, 90 ELU, 88 BCV, 89 SPM, 91 JKM and 75 CAR. He is possibly the most all-round threat on this list but that will cost you. Around 499,000 Coins on Xbox One and 525,000 Coins on PS4.

1. Herman Moore, Detroit Lions – 95 Overall

This ‘Thanksgiving Master’ version of Herman Moore is very similar to the previously mentioned Jerry Rice. He has 91 SPD, 91 AGI, 90 ACC, 94 JMP, 92 STA, 94 CTH, 92 RTE, 92 CIT, 94 SPC, 91 RLS, 87 ELU, 86 BCV, 84 SPM, 85 JKM and 75 CAR. He is a little more expensive than Rice though, costing 570,000 Coins on Xbox One and 642,000 Coins on PS4.

Ultimately, most of these players are very similar, in the Gold and Elite tiers, regardless of their overall rating. They are all very good at pretty much everything. The key factor in choosing ultimately comes down to your own play style and/or the price of players.

Of the Gold receivers I would personally target DeVante Parker, Cole Beasley and Allen Robinson as they offer the most for the lowest price in my eyes.

As far as the Elite’s are concerned I would go after Antonio Brown, Ed McCaffrey and Randy Moss as they are the cheapest and are not really a downgrade on any of the more expensive players.
