The departure of Thibaut Courtois has a feeling of inevitability about it. Having missed both Chelsea training sessions so far this week and spoken of wanting to be closer to his two young children who live in Madrid, Maurizio Sarri’s wish to retain the Belgian ‘keeper look futile.

With Courtois sparring for his move, Sarri now has only two days remaining to conclude business and seal his playing squad before this weekend’s opener at Huddersfield.
