The NBA 2K23 ratings have been fully revealed but there are a few players we think that should have an updated rating.
Today, we're going to go over the ratings for players that should receive an increase during the first update of the year.
We'll also address the highest-rated player in the game.
NBA 2K23 Ratings Update (9/7)
Just before launch, we received the first set of player ratings in the game and Giannis Antetokounmpo came in with a 97 OVR.
With the highest rating in the game, players started to wonder whether or not he should be rated at the top spot. The pot continued to be stirred as Kevin Durant tweeted to Ronnie 2K.
In our opinion, Giannis Antetokounmpo should be the player with the best NBA 2K23 ratings due to his recent domination of the NBA.
However, we'd increase his rating to 98 OVR (+1), giving him a slight boost so we could provide a few more updates to other players.
5 Players that need ratings updates
Kevin Durant is actually one of the players that we feel should be slightly higher, we'd put him at a 97 OVR, just under Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Our reasoning for this is that Durant is still one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA and definitely has a slight edge over LeBron James.
One of the biggest NBA 2K23 ratings questions centers around Stephen Curry, who has a 96 OVR but we believe this is an accurate rating.
The other players we think need updates are:
- Kevin Durant - 97 OVR (+1)
- Devin Booker - 94 OVR (+1)
- James Harden - 90 OVR (+1)
- Kyrie Irving - 90 OVR (+1)
- Klay Thompson - 85 OVR (+2)
Devin Booker currently has a 93 OVR which we think definitely needs to be boosted to 94 OVR at least.
James Harden had a strong outing in 2021 and is in a new offense that benefits his style of play, he has to be in the 90s along with Kyrie Irving.
The most shocking of the NBA 2K23 ratings was Klay Thompson having an 83 OVR. He's one of the most efficient shooters from beyond the arc so we boosted him to 85 OVR.
Best 3PT Shooters in NBA 2K23
The three-point shooters were also revealed when the NBA 2K23 ratings came out and this is a really interesting list.
Coming in with a 99 OVR is Stephen Curry, the highest rating of every player in NBA 2K23. However, the next closest player is only an 88 OVR.
These NBA 2K23 ratings were a little strange since Thompson is clearly better than an 88 OVR. Perhaps even more strange is that everyone in the top five behind Curry has the same rating.
