Bethesda set to reveal new games next month

In 2020, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, the parent companies of studios such as Bethesda, for $7.5 billion.

This potentially means that future titles such as The Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, and many other games from franchises such as DOOM and Wolfenstein, could become exclusive to the Xbox brand.

Bethesda Event Taking Place Next Month

Jeff Grubb, a journalist for Games Beat, revealed on the Games Beat Decides podcast that a new Bethesda event will be happening next month.

"I don’t know if it will be a full, Direct-style event, but they will make note about it and they will talk about it extensively, explain what it means for everybody and talk about the immediate future of both companies becoming one, so yeah, expect that to happen sometime in mid-March."

There are a few reasons why we could be seeing an event focused on Bethesda next month.

On March 5th, the European Union regulators will meet to decide whether the deal between Microsoft and ZeniMax can go ahead.

This is the last step that Microsoft need to take before the acquisition becomes official.

Once this happens Microsoft will have secured the company, meaning they have no reason to hesitate when it comes to announcing new games.

This will also be one of the key reveal events before the digital E3 2021 which will take place in June.

Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 Becoming Xbox Exclusive?

It has been theorized that The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 could become exclusive to the Xbox brand and ecosystem.

With an acquisition this large, it would make sense to make the most of it and to give players a reason to choose Xbox over PlayStation.

There is a possibility that the games could still come to PlayStation 5 as it will drastically increase sales.

But with Microsoft so focused on the Xbox ecosystem, which includes things such as Game Pass, there is a very good chance we will see them remain on Xbox.

Some titles such as Ghostwire: Tokyo will be releasing on PlayStation as they were announced before the acquisition and Microsoft have stated they will honour all releases that were announced before Microsoft purchased ZeniMax.
