MLB The Show 21 tops PlayStation's April downloads


MLB The Show 21 finally launched last month, and that included a jump to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S while also returning to PS4 and PS5.

While a lot of the conversation about MLB The Show 21 had focused on Xbox Game Pass and new players there, the title didn't slow down in the PlayStation Store.

MLB The Show 21 tops PS4 & PS5 downloads on PlayStation Store

MLB The Show 21 was released on April 20, 2021, but players who chose to pre order the game and snag Early Access got started as early as April 16, 2021.

This was the first year the game went to next gen platforms, but it also saw a former PlayStation exclusive made by Sony San Diego land on Xbox consoles.

That didn't slow down the game's success on PlayStation though, as the official PlayStation blog has revealed the top downloads on PS4 and PS5 from this April.

MLB The Show 21 shot to the top of the list in just the last part of the month, and it became the most downloaded game in the US and Canada on the PlayStation Store in April.

Outriders and Returnal were just behind the title on PS5, and it was followed by mainstays Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PS4.

MLB The Show 21 continues on Xbox Game Pass

While it hasn't seemed to hinder the game's success on PlayStation, Xbox is introducing a whole new audience to MLB The Show 21.

That's not just by landing on a new platform, but through MLB The Show 21 going on Xbox Game Pass the day the title launched for all players.

While the title has seen some struggles since launch with a handful of bugs and ongoing server issues, developers have worked hard to resolve those things and even released a major Thank You Bundle to fans.
