Gfinity Elite Series: Rocket League Road to the Final

Rocket League has been one of the most exciting esports in the Gfinity Elite series and this season's grand final will be one of the best yet. Team Envy and Vitality have seen their stock rise with strong performances in both the Elite Series and Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) and this should be an important series to see which team will perform stronger at the RLCS Season 5 finals, also taking place in London.

Team Envy

League position: 1st in Group A

League record: 3 wins, 1 loss

Quarterfinal: Bye

Semifinal: 4-2 vs Epsilon

Biggest win: 3-0 exceL

Starting roster: EyeIgniteRL, TheWaffle, Mout,

Team Envy had an ugly Season 4 in the RLCS and decided to ship out former World Champion gReazymeister in favour of the young up-and-coming EyeIgniteRL. The team has since gone one to qualify for RLCS Season 5 World Championship in London after beating FlipSide Tactics and claimed third place after a 4-1 beatdown of Worlds runners up compLexity gaming.

Meanwhile, in the Gfinity Elite Series the team has been doing the same incredible things only dropping one contest to the team they are meeting in the final, Vitality. While both have been excellent in league play, Envy have promising talent that are hungry for a statement victory.

The team-play by Envy has carried them against the best teams in the Elite Series, but the boys in blue will need to look out for the very aggressive attack from Vitality's FreaKii and paschy90 if they want to lift the Elite Series title.

Renault Vitality

League Position: 2nd in Group A

League Record: 3 wins, 1 loss

Quarterfinal 4-1 Fnatic

Semifinal: 4-2 Method

Biggest win: 3-1 Nordavind

Starting roster: FreaKii, paschy90, Fairy Peak!

Renault Vitality have been a force to reckon with in both the RLCS and Gfinity Elite Series, placing second in both competitions with some impressive results. The team only lost to Hashtag United in the Elite Series and defeated all of their other opponents with a very aggressive attack.

The team replicated this play online in the RLCS placing second to defending World Champions Gale Force Esports and defeated Paris-Saint Germain and compLexity Gaming along the way in the RLCS S5 Europe playoffs. The two impressive wins add to their strong online reputation, but Envy have been equally dominant in the Elite Series. While the team has defeated Envy before, the grand final brings new pressure as the team will be looking to avenge their regular season loss.

The final of Rocket League at the Gfinity Elite Series will air on Facebook at 4pm BST on Saturday, April 28.
