FIFA 23 lets players see what football is like years in the future, and these FIFA 23 Portugal wonderkids could turn into world-beaters. Portugal is a hotbed of footballing talent, with a huge number of quality players for such a small country.

It's a great place to go shopping for players no matter what level you are playing at as Portuguese players are often cheaper than their English or German counterparts.

The best Portuguese wonderkids in FIFA 23

This article will be looking at a very specific group of players. To qualify as a Portuguese wonderkid you first and foremost have to be Portuguese!

After that, it's all about age. We are looking for players that start the FIFA 23 career mode aged 19 or younger. Anyone who is over 20 doesn't qualify. That means the likes of Nuno Mendes and Goncalo Inacio have now aged out of this list.

With that covered, let's get into it!

Antonio Silva (OVR 77 - POT 88)

Team: Benfica

Age: 18

Position: CB

It should come as no surprise that Antonio Silva is the best Portuguese wonderkid in FIFA 23. The starlet centre back is being closely watched by the giants of European football as he puts in stellar performances for Benfica. He's also the best centre back wonderkid in this year's game.

In FIFA 23, Silva has strong attributes and a big future ahead of him. His 83 stamina and 82 strength are combined with an 81 sprint speed to give him a solid physical platform to grow from. Defensively he's got 80 interceptions, 79 defensive awareness, and 79 standing tackle to be a good ball-winner right away.

Francisco Conceicao (OVR 74 - POT 86)

Team: Ajax

Age: 19

Position: RW

Francisco Conceicao is one Portuguese wonderkid who has already got his move away. Having come up with Porto, he moved to Ajax in 2022 for a reported £5 million and is already being eyed up for a major transfer elsewhere.

In FIFA 23 Concecao is a tricky winger with a bright future. His 93 agility, 85 acceleration, and 83 dribbling will carry him beyond defenders, but his end product still needs work. He's got four-star skill moves and is a left-footed right-winger though, making him a deadly prospect.

Fabio Carvalho (OVR 74 - POT 86)

Team: Liverpool

Age: 19

Position: CAM, CM

Liverpool's CAM Fabio Carvalho is next. Carvalho started his football journey with Benfica, but at the age of 11 his family moved to London and he played with Balham before signing with Fulham. In May 2022 he got a move to Liverpool where he is continuing to develop.

In FIFA 23 Carvalho is an attacking midfielder with a lot of promise. His 86 balance, 82 agility, and 76 dribbling are solid for a central player, while his 78 ball control, 73 short passing, and 73 finishing will only grow with more time on the pitch.

Andre Gomes (OVR 63 - POT 86)

Team: Benfica

Age: 17

Position: GK

Another Benfica product on our list, and it's a goalkeeper! Andre Gomes joined the Benfica Academy in 2016 and then a professional contract with the club in late 2020. He's yet to make his senior debut with the team but is already playing at U19 level for Portugal and won the UEFA Youth League with Benfica in 2022.

It's hard to trust young goalies in FIFA 23. Gomes' attributes aren't great, with just 66 reflexes, 64 positioning, and 62 diving. However, that massive 86 potential puts him in line to be better than Emi Martinez, which is a great place to be!

Roger Fernandes (OVR 63 - POT 86)

Team: Sporting Braga

Age: 16

Position: LM, RM

Next up is Roger Fernandes. A pacy winger, Fernandes got his debut with Braga at just 15 years old. While he's not yet a regular for the first team he's well on his way to being one.

In FIFA 23 Fernandes is all about movement. He's got 87 agility, 85 acceleration, and 81 sprint speed. After that everything needs work, but he starts career mode at just 16, giving him plenty of time to reach that 86 potential.
