The brand new Gimmighoul is the latest Pokemon to be announced for generation nine and it will likely be the last one ahead of the game's release in a couple of weeks.

What makes Gimmighoul special, however, is that it's the first new Pokemon to have a form unique to both Pokemon Go and the main series game from which it originates, meaning you'll need both games or trade to get both.

For those on an adventure through the Paldea region in Scarlet and Violet, Gimmighoul will be in its Chest Form, hiding around the region as a treasure chest filled with coins.

If you're exploring the real world in Pokemon Go, however, Gimmighoul will have no chest and will instead be in its Roaming form, showing us the full bug-like ghost, wearing a single coin on its back as it searches for a new chest.

The Roaming form of Gimmighoul is said to be hiding all across Paldea too but tends to run away as soon as someone approaches, meaning that nobody has caught one but perhaps your journey in Pokemon Go could change that.

The crossover appears to also have some dedicated research coming to the game with professor Jacq from Paldea apparently joining Pokemon Go's Professor Willow as they try to figure out this mysterious new coin-collecting ghost-type Pokemon in a limited-time event which will likely give players easy-access to Gimmighoul.
