The Minnesota Wild boasts many great players dotted over their lines as well as some top prospects emerging into the NHL lines. But, for the most part, the core which has remained the same for the past few years just doesn’t seem to be enough to push the team into becoming feared postseason contenders, with their playoffs ending in the first round in each of the last three seasons.
Jason Zucker, Left Wing, 85 OVR
Age: 26Role: Two-WayHeight: 180cmWeight: 85kgShoots: LeftBest Stats: 89 Offensive Awareness. 88 Deking, Hand-Eye, Puck Control, Defensive Awareness, Stick Checking, Acceleration, Agility, Speed, Slap Shot Power, Wrist Shot Accuracy
Jason Zucker is a skillful and nimble wing who has an eye for goal. Last season, the American established himself as one of the team’s top players by scoring 33 goals and 64 points to trail only Eric Staal among Wild skaters. This season, his form has dropped, as has the team’s as a whole, collecting 23 points by the 43-game mark, but given the age of Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, and Eric Staal, Zucker is expected to become a more important piece as these veterans slide towards retirement.
Ryan Suter, Defenseman, 88 OVR
Age: 33Role: Defensive DefensemanHeight: 188cmWeight: 92kgShoots: LeftBest Stats: 92 Defensive Awareness. 90 Passing, Puck Control, Shot Blocking, Stick Checking, Endurance
The best defensive defenseman in NHL 19 certainly boasts some helpful stats, including 90s in defensive attributes, 88s in skating, and 90s for passing and puck control. This does very well to reflect Suter’s defense-first thinking on the ice, and his reliability when on the puck. Despite his defensive mindset, Suter clocked in 51 points last season and is third for the Wild in this campaign with 28 points in 44 games.
Devan Dubnyk, Goaltender, 88 OVR
Age: 32Role: HybridHeight: 198cmWeight: 99kgShoots: LeftBest Stats: 92 Vision. 91 Angles, Breakaway, Stick Low
Devan Dubnyk’s slide in numbers last season is more likely a reflection of team performances rather than his own as he was still a game-winner on many occasions. With 35 wins, five shutouts, and a 2.52 goals against average, Dubnyk held firm throughout the season to help his team. This season, his numbers have taken a slight hit again, but his stats in NHL 19 make him a reliable starting goaltender.
NHL 19 Minnesota Wild Roster
From the Day 1, September 13 update, this is how the Minnesota Wild’s first lines start. Minnesota’s strength is in their depth, with a lack of a highly-rated, game-changing star present on the lines. Ryan Suter is a very tough player to play against, as is Devan Dubnyk.

Jordan Greenway, Left Wing, 76 OVR
Age: 21Role: Power ForwardHeight: 198cmWeight: 103kgShoots: LeftPotential: Top 6 med
The most appealing factor of Jordan Greenway in NHL 19 is his role as a power forward and his immense size – 198cm tall and 103kg in weight. With decent and improving skating stats, fair puck skills, and physical ratings at 85 or greater, Greenway is already a fun player to have on the lines and can become one of the most well-rounded forwards in the game.
There are already plenty of younger players plying their trade in Minnesota’s NHL lines, so the lack of overall talent in the prospect pool doesn’t matter too much. In the Wild’s collection of prospects there are a couple of names who could develop into NHL players for your franchise, such as Filip Johansson, Ivan Lodnia, Mason Shaw, and Ales Stezka, but all in a bottom line or backup role.
