Following the well-documented split between EA Sports and FIFA, EA will now have to compete with the football organisation as well as Konami as they battle it out to secure certain licenses for FIFA 23 and their new game.
Fans of the footballing sim have been fretting on social media about the potential loss of FIFA 23 rights to competitors, but it looks like EA has everything under control.
EA Sports has secured a deal to add a whole new league to FIFA 23, which we assume will carry over to EA Sports FC 24.
In fact, it looks as though EA will be adding the new league to the game in time to feature in the hotly anticipated Team of the Season (TOTS) promo.
Latest - Brazilian league players added
We're still waiting for official confirmation that the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A - the top-tier league in Brazil - will be added to FIFA 23, although the latest information coming out looks promising.
Some new players have joined the game and it just so happens that they come from the Brazilian Serie A!
As shown in the Tweet from FIFAUTeam, the likes of Hulk and Weverton can be found in Ultimate Team, which means their items should soon become available.
This comes just in time for the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A to gain a Team of the Season squad, with the voting beginning for the campaign.
New league license secured
As FIFAUTeam has reported, a whole new league is set to be added to FIFA 23, as EA has secured the rights to yet another top-flight division.
The Brazilian league, formerly known as the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, is the league in question.
According to FIFAUTeam, the Brazilian league is on the list of new leagues that will be featured during the Team of the Season campaign.
The Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A is currently unlicensed in FIFA 23, so we are expecting EA to make an official announcement regarding the new license soon.
We could see the Brazilian league added to FIFA 23 as early as Tuesday, 18 April 2023.
You can expect the following Brazilian league teams to feature in FIFA 23 soon:
- Atletico
- Bahia
- Botafogo
- Atletico Mineiro
- Corinthians
- Coritiba
- Cruzeiro
- Fluminense
- Goias
- Gremio
- Internacional
- Palmeiras
- Santos
- Sao Paulo
- Vasco da Gama
- America Mineiro
- Cuiaba
- Flamengo RJ
- Fortaleza EC CE
- Red Bull Bragantino SP
TOTS leagues
It looks as though the Brazilian league could be one of several on the provisional list that could be added to the TOTS release schedule.
The Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, and any other leagues that are added between now and the beginning of the TOTS campaign, will be released as minor league squads.
EA will most likely stagger the release of the minor league TOTS squads by releasing a new one on each Tuesday throughout the campaign.
The main league squads, like the Premier League, for example, will be released every Friday.
The expected FIFA 23 minor league TOTS squads are:
- EFL
- Eredivisie
- Saudi Professional League
- Liga NOS
- Super Lig
- Belgium Pro League
- CONMEBOL
- MLS
- Rest of the World

FIFA 24
With the FIFA 23 game cycle in a bit of a lull right now, fans are beginning to wonder when the next title in the series will be released.
Well, it's important to understand that FIFA as we know it will not be named 'FIFA 24'. Instead, it will now be named 'EA Sports FC', as mentioned above.
So, we're not looking forward to a FIFA 24 release date but now an 'EA Sports FC' release date - the title of EA's new footballing sim, set to arrive in 2023.
We expect to see an EA Sports FC release date of around Friday, 29 September 2023, in keeping with the FIFA titles that have gone before.
