Your centre-back pairing is the heart of your team, and without a solid base you will struggle in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.
There looks to be some great pairings shaping up ahead of the new game too, and we can't wait to try them out.
We are less keen to play against them though, but check out these potential FUT 22 defences.
French Connection
The current crop of French centre-backs is quite frankly a joke.
Despite losing Aymeric Laporte to Spain, France could still play about five different CB pairings that are plenty good enough for international football.
Obviously, in FIFA Ultimate Team we are looking for mobile defenders too, and France has plenty of them playing in multiple major leagues.
La Liga boasts Jules Kounde (for now), Clement Lenglet, and potentially Ferland Mendy (more on that later) while the Bundesliga can offer Bayern Munich duo Lucas Hernandez Dayot Upamecano.
However, it is in the Premier League where our focus lies with summer signings and probable Ones to Watch stars Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate set to rule the roost.
We all know Varane is the ultimate CB in FIFA, but Konate will be a popular early pick with his combination of pace, power, and defensive nous.
Perfect Paris
If you are looking for those perfect chemistry links then the PSG defence could be the ideal one for you.
Starting behind the defence, Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma provide more than adequate goalkeeping options.
Now to the good stuff.
PSG has made a serious statement by signing serial-winner Sergio Ramos and he is superb in FIFA Ultimate Team.
Combine him with Brazilian star Marquinhos and/or Presnel Kimpembe and you are on to a winner early doors.
The PSG backline looks perfectly suited to a back three, especially with the likes of Achraf Hakimi available in the wide midfield position.
Rapid Real
Last but by no means least is the potential Real Madrid/La Liga defence that could be put together.
In terms of OVR rating, this will be the lowest, but that could work in your favour as it should work out cheaper to assemble!
New signing David Alaba is well-known for his all-round class, but his mobility will make him a popular choice at centre-back.
His partner at Real Madrid looks likely to be Eder Militao with the departure of Varane imminent, although there are rumours of Ferland Mendy playing CB which is a frightening proposition for FUT 22.
With Sevilla's pacey Brazilian Diego Carlos also available, this looks like a winning combination.
With the likes of Thibaut Courtois or Jan Oblak behind them, there are plenty of reliable keepers in La Liga.
