FIFA 22 Best Centre Backs: PSG duo will be ELITE at COMMANDING their box

FIFA 22 ratings are all here, so we're bringing you all the top players.

Full-backs are more attacking threats than ever, with more responsibility for defensive duties falling on centre-backs.

After seeing full-backs employed as CBs throughout Ultimate Team last season, the CBs have had tasty pace upgrades in FIFA 22.

Read on to find out who the best centre-backs on FIFA 22 are.

Virgil van Dijk (OVR 89)

An absolute juggernaut at the back, no attacker can bully Virgil van Djik.

Strong as an ox and deceptively quick, even the best of strikers will find it hard to get past this man.

Add to that his phenomenal aerial presence and this is about as complete a defender as you can get.

After being out injured for most of last season, Van Dijk saw a rating decrease to 89 OVR, meaning no defenders manage to join the 90 club in FIFA 22.

Sergio Ramos (OVR 88)

A legend of the game, Sergio Ramos was rewarded with one of the best cards we've ever seen on FUT last season.

There is nothing this man can't do, a phenomenal leader who causes as much trouble in the opposition box as he stops in his own.

Another who had an injury-struck season and saw his rating drop, Ramos won't be wearing the legendary all-white kit of Real Madrid this season, after his free transfer to PSG.

Marquinhos (OVR 87)

PSG didn't hit the heights they would want last season, but with a new man at the helm, they will be hoping for better this term.

A mainstay in the team, Marquinhos can fit in as a CB or CDM.

He is a newer breed of defender, not exceptionally strong or tall, yet still very secure at the back with his defensive attributes.

If you like playing out from the back there aren't much better!

Ruben Dias (OVR 87)

Just as Virgil van Dijk moved to Liverpool and sured-up their defence, Dias has done the same for Manchester City.

The difference before and after the move is monumental, with a newfound confidence in City's defending.

After winning the Premier League and Player of the Season award, Dias' rating shot up to an 87 OVR.

At only 23, this is also a player you should keep an eye on as a Career Mode signing.

Giorgio Chiellini (OVR 86)

Chiellini seems to be ageless, still going strong even after recovering from a bad injury in astonishing time.

The warrior at the back probably won't be a go-to on Career Mode, but in all other game modes, the Piemonte Calcio man would be a strong choice.

Kalidou Koulibaly (OVR 86)

Another beast at the back, everyone has been waiting for a big move for this man for a few years now but nothing has materialized.

Nevertheless, he keeps putting in top performances at Napoli and is as solid a defensive CB as there is.

He couldn't maintain his very high 88 OVR rating for FIFA 22 but is still one of the top players.

Raphael Varane (OVR 86)

With his previous CB partner Ramos injured for most of the season, Raphael Varane really had to step up his game and leadership - and he did just that.

A move to Manchester United sees him helping them challenge for a potential title, with his solid defending and pace his standout features on FIFA 22.

Aymeric Laporte (OVR 86)

Last season saw Aymeric Laporte lose his place in City's defence due to the formidable partnership of Dias and John Stones, but that wasn't down to Laporte's failings so it's a bit harsh to see a drop in rating.

He is a solid defender who can ping a pass anywhere on the pitch, you may also be tempted by the fact he's left-footed.

Mats Hummels (OVR 86)

Another stellar season from Mats Hummels, but it didn't improve his rating.

Borussia Dortmund score plenty, but they also have a habit of shipping a few at their own end, and having Mats Hummels marshalling the defence is crucial.

Still only 32, the club legend will look to claim one final Bundesliga title, as he did with the club in 2011 and 2012.

Milan Skriniar (OVR 86)

Skriniar comes in FIFA 22 off the back of winning Serie A with Inter Milan. A constant man at the back of their defence shows off his consistency.

He is an out-and-out defender, so if you want someone proper old-school who only cares about crunching challenges, look no further.
