PG - Rajon Rondo, New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns
Rondo was at his very best last night as he dropped 16 points, eight rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals in a big overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Rondo has been a feast or famine type of fantasy player for most of the season, and the fact that he’s on the second night of a back-to-back isn’t ideal. However, it should be noted that both of his triple-doubles this season have come on back-to-backs, and the Phoenix Suns defense is so horrific that a third trip-dub for Rondo is well within the realms of possibility.
Also consider: Trey Burke, New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors
Burke has been burning up for the Knicks of late. He’s scored 26 points off the Knicks bench in each of his last two games, and has added seven assists per game for good measure. He’s got to cool off at some point, and that point could be tonight against the Warriors. Although, there’s a decent chance the Warriors blow the Knicks out and Burke gets to eat one more time during garbage time like he did against Boston. Either way, Burke has enough upside to make him well worth the risk.
SG - Bogdan Bogdanovic/Buddy Hield, Sacramento Kings vs Minnesota Timberwolves
Bogdanovic and Hield continued their current hot streaks against the Lakers as they dropped 21 points apiece. Bogdanovic added six rebounds and four assists, while Hield grabbed eight rebounds, the second straight game he’s had eight or more. The Timberwolves’ wing defense just became a major question mark with the loss of Jimmy Butler, so the two young Kings wings should have another good chance to produce impressive numbers.
SF - Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves @ Sacramento Kings
On the other side of the coin, Wiggins performed admirably in the first game without Butler as he dropped 23 points, a couple of rebounds and assists, and a block and steal each. The Kings wing defense has not been great either, and Wiggins has exploited that to the tune of 19.0 points on 53 percent shooting with 4.5 rebounds in their first two meetings. With more shots coming his way due to Butler’s absence, look for those numbers to rise even further.
Also consider: Harrison Barnes, Dallas Mavericks vs Indiana Pacers
Barnes delivered quite a stinker last time out against the Jazz as he finished with just nine points and four rebounds. That’s seen Barnes’ price dip to its lowest level in a long time. That’s why it’s a perfect opportunity to buy low on Barnes, who is still very much capable of topping 30 fantasy points when he’s at his best.
PF - Serge Ibaka, Toronto Raptors vs Detroit Pistons
Ibaka has been playing really well lately. Over his last five contests, he’s been averaging 15.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 57 percent from the floor. He’s had at least 18 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in his last two games, which has seen him score at least 35 fantasy points per FanDuel in those games. He’ll have a good chance of continuing that hot streak against a struggling Pistons team that’ll be on the second night of a back-to-back.
Also consider: Carmelo Anthony, Oklahoma City Thunder vs Orlando Magic
After seemingly turning a corner, Melo regressed badly as he shot just 6-of-17 in a loss to the Warriors. But despite that poor showing, Anthony’s still got some decent upside given his relatively cheap price. He’ll have every opportunity to bounce back against Orlando’s uninspiring defense.
C - Alex Len, Phoenix Suns @ New Orleans Pelicans
At this point, it just makes sense to keep riding the Alex Len train for as long as possible. At the moment, that doesn’t seem like happening anytime soon. The Suns big man has exceeded 7x value in each of his last three contests as he’s filled in for the injured Tyson Chandler. He should like his chances of extending his fine run for one more game as he takes on a Pelicans team that will be going on the second night of a back-to-back.
Also consider: Jarrett Allen, Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls
After a bunch of off nights recently, Allen finally came up with a productive night against the Hornets with nine points, seven boards, two blocks and a steal. He’s now got as good a matchup as any to turn that into back-to-back good performances as he takes on a Bulls team which has been burned by opposing big men all year.
