eFootball 2022: First patch POSTPONED as new title continues to struggle

It's more bad news for eFootball fans as Konami has just made a BIG announcement regarding the first eFootball 2022 patch.

Find out the latest on the first update coming to the new game, which was set to bring us the new and improved Version 0.9.1.

First update postponed

The official eFootball Twitter account has posted a statement apologising to fans and notifying them of the postponement of the first eFootball 2022 patch.

Version 0.9.1 of eFootball 2022 was originally due to be released on Thursday, 28 October 2021, but has now been pushed back to 'early November'.

The fact that Konami has not even provided us with a new specific release date is worrying.

Many fans are of the opinion that the game was released far too early, so perhaps we could look at this as a good sign, as the developers hope for Version 0.9.1 to be the finished product.

Let's hope that when the first patch is released, the game is VASTLY improved from what it is now.

What does this mean for Mobile?

eFootball 2022 Mobile was scheduled for release on iOS and Android devices when the first major update was set to go live.

However, with the first update now pushed back, we can expect the release of the mobile version of the game to be postponed too.

This means that eFootball 2022 Mobile will also likely arrive in early November, and will be made available as an update to the existing PES 2021 app.

Current mobile users will be able to carry over a portion of their in-game assets from eFootball PES 2021.

Clubs coming to eFootball 2022

Despite only nine clubs being officially confirmed so far, we know of several more that EA will have likely secured the licenses to.

Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors were exclusive to Konami's PES 2021, so we expect this to remain the same heading into eFootball 2022.

Napoli

Napoli joined the franchise as an official partner, in a licensing agreement that will become exclusive for the 2022/23 season.

Konami has also secured naming rights for Napoli's training centre, which will feature a brand new gaming area for players and guests.

Roma

The AS Roma team name, crest and official kits will likely be fully exclusive to the eFootball 2022, as they were in PES 2021.

The long-time home of AS Roma, Stadio Olimpico, will probably be included in eFootball 2022 too.

Atalanta

Konami has a long-term exclusive partnership agreement with Atalanta in place.

PES PARTNER: Atalanta signs exclusive deal with Konami

This exclusive deal means that FIFA 22 will no longer include the official Atalanta team name, crest, kits and player names.

Schalke

Schalke was one of few German clubs to feature in PES 2021.

So, we think Konami will have most likely kept hold of the licenses to FC Schalke 04, whilst targetting more clubs from the Bundesliga.

Celtic

Celtic has been a partner of Konami's for several years now.

eFootball 2022 will also have exclusive rights to Celtic's stadium, Celtic Park.

Rangers

Like Celtic, Rangers are also partnered with Konami for eFootball 2022, with the Ibrox Stadium to feature only in Konami's new game.
