Test of Time Evolved players in EA FC 25

The Test of Time is a companion-exclusive EA FC 25 Evolution, part of Training Camp Evos that EA added at the end of February this year. While the earlier few batches of them weren't particularly flattering, the latest, The Test of Time, is worth considering.

Toss your RBs into it and do nothing to cook one of the best fullbacks in EA FC 25. But how exactly do these new Evos work, and who should you put into The Test of Time? Here's everything you need to know.

How does The Test of Time Training Camp Evolution Work?

Unlike regular Evolutions in EA FC 25, you cannot do Training Camp Evos in-game. You'll have to log into the FC Companion app on your Android or iOS or access it through the website.

You'll find the Evo in the "Training Camp" section of the Evolution page. Once activated, you can view them in the in-game menu in the "My Evolution" section.

One quirk of this Evolution is that it provides "passive" upgrades without you having to do anything, like playing matches with the card. Just chill and get boosts.

Of course, there is always a catch with EA. You won't be able to play with the selected card until the Evolution is fully finished. You can cancel it, but you will end up losing unearned upgrades and the Evo altogether.

If you use any RBs for The Test of Time Evolution, you won't be able to play them for 13 days. You will see the players in your club, but you won't be able to put them into your starting eleven or bench.

As for upgrades, there are two levels of them in The Test of Time:

Level 1 Upgrades

  • Time Required: 6 days
  • OVR: +2 (Max 92)
  • Pace: +6 (Max 93)
  • Dribbling: +6 (Max 87)
  • Defending: +6 (Max 90)
  • Weak Foot: +1 (Max 4)
  • Playstyles: Jockey, Intercept (Max 9)

Level 2 Upgrades

  • Time Required: 7 days
  • OVR: +2 (Max 92)
  • Passing: +10 (Max 90)
  • Physical: +6 (Max 90)
  • Skill Move: +1 (Max 4)
  • Playstyles+: Bruiser+ (Max 2)
  • Roles: Wingback+, Fullback++

So, you get tidy upgrades with both levels. If you're doing this on a lower OVR card and want to keep them below 90 for other possible Evolutions, chickening out is an option, too.

Best Players for The Test of Time Evolution in EA FC 25

The five standout picks in EA FC 25's The Test of Time Evolution for us are:

  1. João Cancelo (Flashback)
  2. Maicon Douglas (Prime Hero)
  3. Danny da Costa (Flashback)
  4. Steve McManaman (RB, Winter Wildcards)
  5. Kyle Walker (Base Gold, must chain with Bomb Forward)

Our top three are SBC challenges that are now expired. So, if you've missed them, you're out of luck. The rest can be bought off the market and are pretty cheap.

João Cancelo Flashback was pretty cheap and absolutely worth doing. The only thing that was missing for him was Fullback++, so now you can use him more as a traditional RB than a full-on attacking one.

A tidy boost to his defending will complement it, and he'll be an elite defensive option to protect your flanks. With Rapid+ and an additional pace boost from Anchor or Shadow, he can run the show himself before whipping the ball to your target man.

Maicon is another great card. He and Cancelo are probably the two top picks, and you can lean on either of them. With Cancelo, you get more versatility and a somewhat better "attacking" right/left back, while Maicon is more dominating and physical.

The Brazilian does get Brusier+, unlike the Portuguese, but he has a shorter range of base Playstyles. And while Whipped Pass+ is good, Rapid+ will give you a little edge. More so when you consider that Cancelo has the base Whipped Pass, too.

All in all, if you're looking for the best option, it's a toss-up between Cancelo and Maicon. Need someone more physical? Maicon. Need a well-rounded, versatile, and equally good defensive fullback, Cancelo. Of course, if you already sweated for the Maicon's Fantasy FC card, you can skip the Hero one for this.

Even if you don't have any of our top picks, you can do anyone who gets closer to the stats from our top picks and gets other upgrades in stats and roles. No doubt there are other capable cards, too.

The Evolution is totally worth doing as it is cheaply priced at 10,000 Coins. The only reason not to do it is if you sense better upgrades for your favorite cards in the future.

The usual suggestion for any Evolution is to wait and see if any new promo cards pop up that are better candidates, but you already need 13 days to complete it, so you might as well pull the trigger now. After all, regretting bad choices is also something we all should do once in a while.
