share to other networks share to twitter share to facebook

The Lucky Lanterns event is one of Rocket League's most exciting annual events, and we're not far from its new replacement, Neon Nights.

Neon Nights will bring new challenges, and a new aesthetic to the game to shake things up.

Here's everything you need to know about the Rocket League Neon Nights event, including when it starts, what rewards are on offer, and the new LTM game mode.

Latest - Neon Nights is Coming Soon

A celebration of all the music in Rocket League, Neon Nights is due to start tomorrow, January 26th.

With new challenges and rewards, this is one you don't want to miss. This will be replacing Lucky Lanterns this year. Hopefully, it's just as good.

Rocket League Neon Nights 2022 - Release Date

The Lucky Lanterns event this year will instead be replaced by Neon Nights, and that will begin on January 26th, running to February 8th.

The Lunar or Chinese New Year starts on February 1 and is celebrated throughout the month, so this exciting event can double as a way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger as well.

Challenges and Rewards

The Lucky Lanterns events always produced some of the most sought-after cosmetics outside of the paid stuff such as the recent collab with BMW.

Whether it be skins, trails, or goal explosions; extravagance is the keyword here with shining golds and deep reds giving everything a desirable sheen.

On the challenge front, each year has run a different system.

Lucky Lanterns 2020 tasked players with collecting iconic Red Envelopes which could then be traded in for prizes. That format was ditched in 2021 for a more traditional challenges and rewards system and it's yet to be seen what way 2022 will go.

New LTM and Map

Each time Lucky Lanterns has come round, new limited-time modes have been added to the game.

The LTMs usually only run for a week, and many will be hoping that Super Cube - which replaced the ball with a massive cube - makes a return in 2022.

Lucky Lanterns 2020 was also when the Forbidden Temple arena made its debut in Rocket League. 2021, saw a Day variant added to the Dawn debut. Could we see a Dusk or Night variant for 2022? Don't count it out.
