It may have only been a year since the release of Insomniac's Spider-Man Miles Morales, but fans are excited for the potential of Spider-Man 2 being in the works for PS5.

During the PlayStation Showcase this evening, Sony confirmed that Spider-Man 2 is in the works and will release in 2023.

PlayStation Showcase 2021 Reveal

Tonight, on September 9, Sony held the PlayStation Showcase 2021 and those in the know were right about there being some huge announcements.

Following the release of Miles Morales, PlayStation clearly want to capitalise on the hype and start the cycle on the full sequel.

Spider-Man 2 Release Date

Revealed at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, Spider-Man 2 is planned for a 2023 release.

We'll update you as soon as we hear more about an official and final date, but we'll probably be waiting a while now.

Is Spider-Man 2 a PS5 Exclusive?

Following the reveal, Sony release a PS Blog post with all the details you need on Spider-Man 2.

They confirmed that the game will be exclusive for PS5, not coming to PS4 as well.

They said: "We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023."

Insomniac's Wolverine Revealed

Revealed just moments before Spider-Man 2, the PlayStation Showcase revealed that they're working on a Wolverine game too.

We didn't see much from it, nor do we know much about it, but it's exciting to know that the team who worked on Spider-Man is making a game focused on such a interesting character.
