The upcoming PlayStation Showcase 2021 broadcast is going to be unforgettable and we're creeping closer to the start time. We don't know a lot about what's going to show up - but it's being pitched as a Showcase rather than another State of Play presentation. So, expect some big news. We have everything you need to know about what to expect, when you can tune in, and how you can watch it.
START TIME - When does 2021's Showcase start?
The PlayStation Showcase 2021 broadcast is due to start at the following times on September 9th:
- 13:00 PST
- 16:00 EST
- 21:00 BST
It's expected to be around forty minutes long and PlayStation has had the following to say about it so far...
" The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase."
HOW TO WATCH - How do you tune in?
As always, you can tune into the PlayStation Showcase 2021 broadcast when it is due to start on the following platforms: YouTube and Twitch. There should be a pre-show available on both platforms, too - these can sometimes last for up to an hour.
It's also worth keeping an eye on PlayStation's official social media channels and any social media channels from Developers and Games you want to see. If there's new footage shown during the PlayStation Showcase 2021, you can expect to see them share it.
PREDICTIONS - What do we think we're going to see?
At the moment, it's really anyone's guess as to what will appear at the PlayStation Showcase 2021 broadcast when it is due to start. At the moment, there are a few rumours to talk about but hardly anything concrete.
We would like to see a new InFamous title, though, from Insomniac Games. We think it's a bit early to be looking at "Spider-Man 2" - although we wouldn't say no to one - but Insomniac Games' InFamous series is one that deserves more love. After Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, we want to see something a bit more intense from Insomniac Games and InFamous is the perfect "superhero sandbox" to look for it in.
In addition to this, we'd like to see a new Metal Gear Solid title - maybe even a remake. We know this is a little outlandish, but Kojima has been teasing Metal Gear Solid through Death Stranding for a little while now and it's about time we go back to the roots of the series. With Sam Fisher and Splinter Cell seeming dead and buried, we only really have Hitman's Agent 47 as the only iconic video game assassin still standing. A refreshed Solid Snake would be a welcome face in 2021 and beyond.
One thing we do know, on top of all this, is that PlayStation's next-gen VR will not be appearing at the PlayStation Showcase 2021. They have said the following in regards to this...
" One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!"
We're expecting to see another Horizon Forbidden West trailer and something about Ember Labs' Kena Bridge of Spirits... But everything else is fair game. This could be a huge presentation.
