As a part of Overwatch 2's new approach to content, the developers over at Blizzard Entertainment have decided to rid of away with the infamous Loot Boxes in favor of the more popular Battle Pass system.
Aiming to make the sequel to the popular FPS title an ever-changing, always evolving game, the Battle Pass will look to keep it fresh, and full of content.
With that in mind, here's everything to know about the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass system.
UPDATED - Blizzard unveils rewards for Overwatch 2's Season 1 Battle Pass
The developers over at Blizzard have finally revealed all of the information regarding the game's new Battle Pass System, as well as what rewards will come in the game's first Battle Pass in Season 1.
For more information on how the Battle Pass works and all of the rewards coming in the Premium and Free versions of it for Season 1, see below.
How does the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass work?
Overwatch 2's Battle Pass will work similarly to other systems in other video game titles that have adopted it. Players who get the Battle Pass will have to complete missions and weekly challenges in order to earn rewards.
There will be free and premium versions of the Battle Pass that players can participate in and track rewards from. The free version will be available to all players but is expected to contain fewer cosmetics and rewards than the premium version. If players were to get the premium version, they'll be privy to more unique and exotic cosmetics, as well as a higher number of rewards. Overwatch 2's premium Battle Pass will be priced at $10.
To top it all off, it's expected that each Battle Pass will only last one season, as going by Overwatch 2's content schedule, each season will have a brand-new Battle Pass accompanying it.

Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Rewards
Both the free and premium versions of the Battle Pass will have 100 tiers each that will include contents such as missions across all of the game's roster of characters.
Each tier in the Battle Pass will contain one reward and a handful of select free items, however, most of them will be locked behind the premium version.
According to an image from an early Overwatch 2 deep dive, these rewards include well-known cosmetics such as character skins, sprays, emotes, victory poses, profile icons, and voice lines.
Players can also expect two brand-new cosmetic items coming new with Overwatch 2's Battle Pass—banners and weapon charms. Banners appear to be flags that players can place on the ground in an emote-like fashion while weapon charms are small decorations attached to the hero's weapon that move and interact as the character performs their actions.
Most notably, the Battle Pass will be used to unlock the game's brand-new heroes. They will be unlockable via both of versions of the Battle Pass—players who purchase the premium Battle Pass will immediately unlock the new hero. Blizzard will also be introducing a new system of free tracks in order to unlock them for those who don't purchase the premium Battle Pass.
Overwatch 2 will also be introducing Mythic skins, a brand-new tier above Legendary. They will be unlike any other skin in the game as they will be customizable as players will be able to alter their coloring and design. Due to the skin's grandiose nature, players can expect this level of skin to possibly be a part of the Battle Pass' higher level tiers.
So far, apart from snippets and clips of the weapon charms, and a showing off of Genji's Mythic skin, Blizzard hasn't revealed specific cosmetics that could come in the Battle Pass.

Kiriko arrives in the first Overwatch 2 Battle Pass
Overwatch 2's brand-new support hero, Kiriko, is confirmed to be part of the Season 1 Battle Pass. The new hero will be the start of what will be a new method of unlocking new heroes moving forward in the game. This will only play to new players, which means players who participated in the original Overwatch will receive her on release.
The hero is the third of the trio of new heroes: Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko.
Free Track players, who are completely new to Overwatch, will be able to unlock her at Tier 55. Players who purchase the Season 1 Battle Pass will "automatically receive access" to the new hero.
