NHL 22 Crossplay: Which platforms can play together this year?

NHL 22 is just around the corner and so far the preliminary thought is that it's a great game.

However, some players are disappointed that there won't be any NHL 22 crossplay this year. Along with that, an entire platform has been left out of the fun.

Let's go over the NHL 22 crossplay problem and the available platforms for players this year.

NHL 22 Crossplay

NHL 22 is only days from its official release date of October 15, 2021. However, those with Early Access got a look at the game and noticed crossplay was missing again.

So, why are we without NHL 22 crossplay once again? We believe it has to do with a couple of key issues.

SLAPSHOT: NHL 22 is a hit, except for no Crossplay

For starters, if there were crossplay in NHL 22 you could have issues with server overload between different game modes, something EA would like to avoid. Plus, there are features such as on-ice augmentation that are exclusive to next gen.

The truth is, current gen systems are going through a process of being phased out and it just doesn't make sense for NHL 22 to cater to crossplay now, though that doesn't mean it won't ever come for the series.

NHL 22 Platforms

Although you won't have any NHL 22 crossplay, players should still be excited that NHL 22 is on the way to standard platforms.

Current Gen and Next Gen users will be able to boot up NHL 22 on its release date and have access to some incredible gameplay. Another note is that NHL 22 X Factors will be available on all platforms.

You'll notice that PC players have been left out once again from the NHL game series. We imagine that EA NHL gaming won't be returning to PC again, though we're still holding out hope.
