When you think of a classic ice hockey player, you think of strength and power as well as nimble finesse to put the puck into the heavily covered goal. Power forwards embody that sentiment to a tee, and these are the best in overall rating on NHL 19.

Jamie Benn (90 OVR)

Team: Dallas StarsPosition: Left WingAge: 29Nationality: CanadianHeight: 188cmWeight: 95kgShoots: LeftBest Stats: Deking 92, Hand-Eye 92, Passing 92, Puck Control 92, Wrist Shot Accuracy 92, Wrist Shot Power 92

The Dallas Stars captain is an imposing figure both when on the puck is on his stick and while charging towards the puck carrier. With high attribute ratings in shooting and puck skills, it’s Benn’s 89 defensive awareness, 88 body checking, 89 acceleration, 89 speed, and 90 strength that makes him a superb all-around skater.

Blake Wheeler (89 OVR)

Team: Winnipeg JetsPosition: Right WingAge: 32Nationality: AmericanHeight: 196cmWeight: 102kgShoots: RightBest Stats: Slap Shot Power 92, Offensive Awareness 92, Wrist Shot Power 91, Strength 91

Blake Wheeler has long been able to do just about everything to a high-level. Now, as a veteran among many young budding forwards, he’s imposing his size and playmaking ability even more. With 90s for every puck skills attribute, defensive awareness, and stick checking, Wheeler is a very useful player to have when needing to get the puck back and then push an attack.

Ryan Getzlaf (88 OVR)

Team: Anaheim DucksPosition: CenterAge: 33Nationality: CanadianHeight: 193cmWeight: 101kgShoots: RightBest Stats: Strength 92, Passing 92, Puck Control 92, Offensive Awareness 92, Balance 92, Stick Checking 91

Ryan Getzlaf is still rated as one of the best centers in the NHL due to his ability to put up points in the offensive end, halt enemy attacks, and win in the duel. In NHL 19, winning faceoffs is very important, so Getzlaf’s 90 poise and 89 faceoffs make him invaluable. On top of that, he has a 91 for stick checking, 88 for body checks, and a 90 for power on both forms of shot.

Mark Stone (87 OVR)

Team: Ottawa SenatorsPosition: Right WingAge: 26Nationality: CanadianHeight: 191cmWeight: 93kgShoots: RightBest Stats: Slap Shot Power 92, Wrist Shot Power 91, Passing 90, Slap Shot Accuracy 89, Strength 89, Defensive Awareness 89, Puck Control 89

Mark Stone offers a strong presence all over the ice and likes to bully opponents when they get a hold of the puck. With 88 aggressiveness, 88 body checking, 88 stick checking, and 89 strength, there are few better players to have on your team while trying to regain possession.

Filip Forsberg (86 OVR)

One of the far more offense-minded power forwards in NHL 19, Filip Forsberg has been one of Nashville’s top two goalscorers every season since he broke onto the scene in 2014/15. In NHL 19, he’s very useful in the defensive end as well, boasting 88 stick checking, 89 strength, and 87 defensive awareness.

Wayne Simmonds (86 OVR)

Team: Philadelphia FlyersPosition: Right WingAge: 30Nationality: CanadianHeight: 188cmWeight: 84kgShoots: RightBest Stats: Aggressiveness 90, Poise 90, Slap Shot Power 89, Strength 89

Some say that the era of the Broad Street Bullies has passed; and then Wayne Simmonds steps onto the ice. Simmonds has it all, from a thunderous and accurate shot to immense physicality. On NHL 19, the big Philly wing has a mighty rating of 88 in body checking, durability, speed, agility, balance, acceleration, stick checking, puck control, hand-eye, deking, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, wrist shot power, and wrist shot accuracy. He’s easily one of the best and most well-rounded, every situation player in NHL 19.
