After years of FIFA dominance, the world of football gaming has been shaken this year, and no game has even been released.
Konami's PES title is back in a big way this year, and it has sparked a football war that we have not seen before.
PES kicked it off by securing exclusive rights to Juventus, condemning FIFA 20 to using Piemento Calcio.
Yesterday FIFA announced a new partnership with the Bundesliga that would include new stadiums, face scans, and broadcast packages. This came just hours after Konami confirmed it would have full licensing for Italy's Serie A.
And now the next blow in the football war had been landed.
PES 2020 secures Euro 2020 rights
World Cup rights have long been in EA's hands, but this year Euro 2020 will be in Konami's corner, with the full tournament being a DLC for PES 2020.
The 2020 Q2 DLC will bring over 50 national teams to the game, including current champions Portugal. Along with the official national teams will come team kits, crests, and players.

UEFA eEURO 2020 esports tournament
Along with the DLC, Konami & UEFA have said there will be a brand-new esports competition based around the tournament, with national sides from across Europe submitting representatives for the qualifying stages before the top 16 teams face off in a live event in London after the semi-finals of the real thing.

When can we play?
PES 2020 drops on PS4, Xbox, on 10 September, a full 2 weeks ahead of FIFA 20. The Euro 2020 DLC will be available some time around April-May 2020. If this will be a free patch to the game or incur an additional cost to players is not yet known.
