NBA 2K19: 1964-1965 Boston Celtics Player Ratings and Roster

Current NBA fans may not be familiar with this old Celtics squad, but true me when I say that Bill Russell made sure they were a dominant team.

What else can be said about the Celtics this season that can’t be said? Finishing off the Lakers swiftly in the 1965 NBA Finals in a commanding 4-1, the 64-65 Boston Celtics proved that their 62-18 Eastern Division 1st place finish wasn’t just for show.

Starting Lineup

Bill Russell, C/PF (OVR 96)

Age: 31

Height: 6’10”

Traits: Two-Way Star

Best Stats: Blocks, Rebounding, Strength

What more can be said about Bill Russell that hasn’t already been said? One of the top interior players of all time. Averaging a decent 14.1 points per game, his amazing strength helped him average an absolute monstrous 24.1 total rebounds and 5.3 assists, making him dominant when going for the ball.

Sam Jones, SG/SF (OVR 89)

Age: 32

Height: 6’4”

Traits: Two-Way Guard

Best Stats:  Mid-Range, Stamina, 3Pt

The main offensive force for the Celtics during the season, Sam Jones was anything but ordinary. Snagging a brilliant 25.9 points per game, his 3pt shots were the stuff of legends, averaging a solid .452 FG%. He also had a nice 2.8 assists, as most of the time he was doing the scoring. Still, a nice team player when need be.

K.C. Jones, PG/SG (OVR 85)

Age: 33

Height: 6’1”

Traits: Two-Way Point

Best Stats: Steals, Lateral Quickness, Strength

Although not the most impressive of players, K.C. Jones was still integral in helping the Celtics rise to the finals. With a nice 8.3 points per game, he had an impressive 5.6 assists per game, making him the playmaker of the team at points. He also had a good 4.1 total rebounds per game as well.

John Havlicek, SF/SG (OVR 84)

Age: 25

Height: 6’5”

Traits: Lockdown Defender

Best Stats: Stamina, Layups, Lateral Quickness

Standing out as one of the more charismatic players on the team, John Havlicek was a strong scorer for the Celtics. Averaging a nice 18.3 points per game, he also had a 8.3 average for total rebounds per game, and a mediocre 2.7 assists per game.

Tom Sanders, PF/SF (OVR 83)

Age: 25

Height: 6’6”

Traits: Elite paint Protector

Best Stats: Strength, Rebounding, Blocks

Rounding out the starters is Tom Sanders, the least likely one that you would want to count on for a clutch player. Averaging a decent 11.8 points, he had a measly 1.2 assists per game, but had the second highest rebound average on the team, with 8.3, behind Bill Russell.
