Rodrygo MOTM SBC Review

It's safe to say that this is one of the worst card releases in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team!

The Road to the Final promo has been quite lacklustre when it comes to player SBCs and this certainly hasn't helped the situation.

A few questions have been raised by the release, including:

  1. Why has the Man of the Match item come via SBC and not in packs?
  2. How did EA decide Rodrygo was the MOTM?
  3. Why is the boost so bad?
  4. Who will complete an SBC that costs around 90,000 coins for an 85-rated card?

Some of these we can't answer, only EA can do that. Rodrygo has a decent game against Liverpool in the 5-2 demolition at Anfield by Real Madrid, but it was clear that Vinicius Jr, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric all put in better performances!

The upgrade from 81 OVR (his base gold card - he hasn't had an in-form yet) to 85 OVR is in-line with the new Team of the Week boost, yet it doesn't feel good enough, especially at this stage in the season.

It wouldn't be so bad if the SBC was cheap, even if that just meant completing it to use the card as fodder, but 85-rated cards are currently selling at around 11,000 coins on the market, so the SBC would need to require one 82-rated squad to be worth it.

90,000 coins for this card is extortionate!

Sometimes, a card rating and the face stats can be misleading, hiding a hidden gem, but that isn't the case here.

Our advise - avoid it at all costs!
