With that in mind, we want to tell you about a certain archetype that has taken this year's game by storm.

FIFA 23 Lengthy Meta

In recent years, it's been the short and pacey players that have dominated the FIFA landscape, with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Wissam Ben Yedder all being completely overpowered in recent games.

However, this year things are different, with tall and strong players now dominating the meta.

It's not just height and muscle that help players along, pace once again comes into the equation, with all of this adding up to make a player fall into the 'lengthy' archetype category.

What is the Lengthy Archetype?

As part of EA's new AcceleRATE feature in FIFA 23, three distinctive archetypes were set out, with every player in the game falling into one of these categories.

Controlled players maintain a steady speed when running whilst explosive players are quick of the blocks before slowing.

It's the lengthy archetype, however, that combines the best of both worlds, with EA describing these players as: "Taller and stronger. able to catch up to anyone and even surpass them, provided they have enough distance. These players start slower but will thrive over longer distances."

Considering that many foot races in FIFA 23 tend to last longer than seen in real life, it's no wonder that these resilient and powerful players are now considered the most valuable in the game.

The perfect example of a FIFA 23 meta-breaking striker is Erling Haaland, with the Man City star reflecting his real-life stardom in-game and quickly becoming everyone's favourite star.

How to get the Lengthy Archetype

Not every player is eligible for the lengthy archetype, but some cards in FUT can be converted using chemistry styles.

For instance, Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has a controlled archetype as his default, but using the hawk chemistry style can alter that initial archetype and turn him into a lengthy runner.

The best way to identify a length runner is by checking their stats.

In order to secure a lengthy player, you're looking for the following criteria:

  • The player MUST be taller than 173cm
  • The player MUST have 65 strength or more
  • The player MUST have 55 acceleration or more

When designing a player on Pro Clubs or recruiting a star in FUT or Career Mode, those stats above are the key to finding a player with the lengthy archetype.
