FIFA 22 Leicester Career Mode Guide: Starting lineup and who to sign

Leicester City pulled off perhaps the greatest underdog story in the history of sports when they won the Premier League in 2016.

However, the Foxes haven't quite been able to reach that same level ever since.

So, have you got what it takes to take Leicester back to the top of English football in FIFA 22 Career Mode?

Team Rating

Leicester has a 4.5-star rating in FIFA 22.

The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 82, MID 81, DEF 79.

Starting Lineup and Formation

The 4-2-3-1 formation is most suitable for Leicester to get the most out of their attackers whilst remaining defensively stable at the back.

The wide or narrow variation can be used depending on your own personal preference.

Starting with the main man himself, Jamie Vardy. Despite being 34-years-old, Vardy the English striker still has a quality card on FIFA 22.

The three creative players operating in the space behind Vardy are Ademola Lookman, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, who should provide both goals and assists for the team.

Giving the team defensively stability in midfield are Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi.

In the full-back positions, we've gone for James Justin and Ricardo Pereira, whilst Wesley Fofana partners Caglar Soyuncu in central defence.

Kasper Schmeichel is the man between the posts.

Tactics and Instructions

With number nine, Jamie Vardy being the main target up front, we want to maximise his goal threat.

So, instruct the striker to Stay Forward, Get In Behind and Stay Central to give him the best possible chance of a sight at goal.

The full-backs can be useful going forward but are also defensively sound, so instruct both James Justin and Ricardo Pereira to Overlap and Stay Back While Attacking.

Make sure you instruct your two defensive midfielders to Cover Centre and Stay Back While Attacking, or you may leave yourself vulnerable to the counter attack.

Development Plans

This Leicester squad is packed full of high-potential players.

Wilfred Ndidi (POT 88), Youri Tielemans (POT 87) and Wesley Fofana (POT 86) can be transformed into a world-class defensive unit in just a few seasons.

Patson Daka (POT 84) is a quality player to replace Vardy up top once he starts to decline with age.

We would recommend switching Kelechi Iheanacho (POT 81) to a CAM or CF as he lacks the pace required to play the striker position in FIFA 22.

Transfer Market

Starting budget: £41 million

Who should go?

Leicester seems to have a pretty lean squad, but there is still a fair bit of deadwood to be sold.

Jonny Evans (OVR 80), Ayoze Perez (OVR 77), Marc Albrighton (OVR 76), Nampalys Mendy (OVR 75) and Hamza Choudhury (OVR 73) can all go to free up some funds for new signings.

The following youngsters can also be sold as their potential rating is not high enough in FIFA 22 to challenge for a first-team spot:

Josh Eppiah, Thanawat Suengchitthawon, Ali Reghba, Vontae Daley-Campbell

Loans

Luke Thomas (POT 81) is one of the most promising youngsters on the books who aren't near the first team at the moment, so a loan spell early on could do him the world of good.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (POT 78), Filip Benkovic (POT 77) and Oliver Bosworth (POT 77) are all promising young players capable of becoming Premier League quality.

Ademola Lookman (POT 82) is currently on loan at the club and could be worth keeping hold of, being a quality player in FIFA 22 with room for growth.

The Foxes already have several players out on loan too, with Dennis Praet (POT 78) the man to keep an eye on.

Who to sign?

The main area where the Leicester team needs upgrading in FIFA 22 is the wide attacking positions, with Lookman and Barnes just not quite up to standard at this moment.

You should look to sign players who can grow into world-class forwards, like Ansu Fati or Antony.

We would also recommend finding another first-team CB, as you may find Soyuncu to be a little clunky in-game.

The centre-backs we've focused on are a little pricey, but they will be worth every penny if you can find the cash.

Board Expectations

You'll have to keep an eye on the Leicester City board expectations in FIFA 22, but luckily they aren't too demanding.

Domestic Success and Brand Exposure are the most important ones for your popularity with the board as they see them as of high priority to the success of the club.

EXPERIENCE IS KEY - You won't need to bring too many youngsters into the side

The board has assigned medium priority to Continental Success, so you'll need to be performing at a solid level for this one.

The Financial and Youth Development targets are a low priority, which means you don't need to stress too much about these.
