Saints Row was finally revealed during Gamescom 2021 but things have been a little quiet since. Luckily, we have a brand new trailer to look forward to this month. Here's what we know so far.
Latest - Customization Trailer This Month
A game known for whacky customization options, Saints Row will receive a trailer this month on April 20th going over every detail.
We'll update you here with the latest news after it goes live.
New Trailer at Game Awards
Following the delay, a new trailer was revealed during the Game Awards. It didn't reveal anything new about the game, but we got an extended look at gameplay. Check it out below:
Saints Row Release Date Delayed
Saints Row will now be releasing on August 23, 2022. It will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC via the Epic Store.
The game will apparently be another Epic Store exclusive on PC as Steam was not listed in the available platforms. It's not known whether or not the game is being designed to take full advantage of next-gen hardware due to its last-gen port. We'll know more once gameplay is shared in the coming months.
Saints Row Reveal Trailer
In the near 4 minute trailer we got revealing the game, we see a much more grounded approach to Saints Row. This is compared to Saints Row IV which was more outlandish. Developer Volition has since confirmed that this will be the approach although they're not taking the fun out of the game to accomplish this.
'The Boss' is revealed in the trailer also and an interview was conducted with actress Bryce Charles. The Boss will be your playable character in the game. Volition has since confirmed that you can create your own Saints Row character like in recent games.
This is due to the instant backlash received during the reveal. The possibility of a fixed lead character was widely considered a downgrade compared to previous titles.
The overall cast of characters has also received some negative reactions. This is due to their less intimidating, hipster and anti-gangster appearance. Given that Saints Row is a reboot of the series and doesn't take place in Steelport, changes were always going to be made to create a new identity.
