UPDATE - PS Plus confirm their leaks and announce August 2021's PS Plus titles.
It's finally that day of the month again; PlayStation has announced the August 2021's PS Plus games and we have everything you need to know about the big reveal. Well, it wasn't really a "big reveal" to begin with because... Earlier this month, PlayStation leaked a couple of the games coming to PS Plus in August 2021 and the third was announced during their last State of Play presentation.
There isn't much buzz about this month's PS Plus games, there wasn't even a surprise hidden in there somewhere.
AUGUST 2021 - PS Plus Games Confirmed
PlayStation hasn't offered up anything too surprising and given us exactly what we expected. It's a shame, but here are the August 2021 PS Plus games:
- Hunter's Arena - Legends (PS4 & PS5)
- Plants vs Zombies: Battle For Neighborville (PS4)
- Tennis World Tour 2 (PS4)
All three titles will be available to download from August 3rd until next month's PS Plus games are available on September 6th.
Announcement Time Detailed
PlayStation is a stickler for schedules and they stick to one fairly rigorously when it comes to PS Plus announcements. Unless there's another State of Play coming up (which there isn't this month), PlayStation reveals their next month of PS Plus games on the last Wednesday of the current month. They also do all this at the same time, too!
This means we should see PlayStation tweet about August 2021's PS Plus titles at around 09:30 PST / 11:30 EST / 16:30 BST on July 28th.
It isn't all bad, though... You can get six months of Apple TV+ if you're playing on a PS5 with PS Plus. This might not be a new game, but it's better than nothing.
PlayStation Leak PS Plus Line Up
Well... This isn't something we expected but it looks like PlayStation has leaked their own PS Plus announcement for August 2021. In the image below, you can see a screenshot of the official PlayStation website. It confirms the following games will be joining Hunter's Arena next month:
- Tennis World Tour 2
- Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville
These aren't exactly blockbuster titles and many people are already criticising PlayStation for the selection. If they are coming to PS Plus next month, they should be available from August 3rd. Here's when we'll get confirmation...
What to Expect
As stated above, you can generally expect to see one PS5 game and two PS4 games. Sometimes, there's a new game launching the day of PS Plus and sometimes, it's just a decent older game.
This being said, we already know one game coming out next month so maybe they will surprise us and release four games into the service. This would be a pretty good move.
What Game Do We Already Know?
In a surprise announcement at Sony's State of Play, it was revealed that Hunter's Arena would launch on August 3rd for PS4 and PS5 and would launch straight onto PlayStation Plus.
This likely means that all the games will be coming on the same date. Hunter's Arena is a multiplayer melee-driven battle royale game so the big launch figures should help the game in the long run. Hopefully, it's great
