There is a new golf game coming on Next Gen consoles as EA announces development is underway on the returning PGA Tour franchise.
EA Sports PGA Tour is something to keep an eye on with more news set to be revealed in the coming weeks, and a launch date will be announced in the coming months.
We are back
The official press release reads:
"In EA Sports PGA Tour, golf fans will be able to build their virtual career and experience the sights, sounds, and thrills of the PGA Tour including The Players Championship, FedExCup Playoffs and more unforgettable events."
"The game will also feature many of the world’s most famous courses, where fans will have the option to play against and as some of the biggest names in professional golf.
"More EA Sports PGA Tour news will be revealed in the coming weeks and a launch date will be announced in the coming months."
The last EA PGA Tour title arrived in July 2015 with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.
Making memories
The new game looks set to be a cracker for golf fans with some of the world's most iconic courses brought to your screens.
“EA Sports and the PGA Tour have created some of the most memorable golf video game experiences together, and we couldn’t be more excited to expand our sports portfolio with a new golf title on next-gen hardware,” said Cam Weber, EA Sports EVP and GM.
"Our team of passionate golf fans is meticulously recreating the world’s top courses such as Pebble Beach, and we can’t wait to give fans the opportunity to compete on some of the most iconic PGA Tour courses and win the FedExCup.”
Couple the amazing courses and tournaments with the amazing graphic capabilities of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, this game could be epic.
Competition time
EA are not the only one making moves in the golfing/gaming world though.
Earlier this month 2K announced that golfing icon Tiger Woods had signed a deal with the franchise, possibly for PGA Tour 2K22.
The five-time Masters champion has signed an exclusive long-term deal with 2K, which is a significant coup for the franchise.
“I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen,” said Woods.
It remains to be seen what the future of the 2K franchise is now following the announcement from EA.
Former glories
PGA Tour isn't the only returning EA franchise coming, with a College Football game also in development.
This believed to be a revival of the NCAA series, with a release not coming until perhaps July 2023.
With a release date for PGA Tour expected in a few months - we could even see the game before the end of the year.
